Thank you all for your help. I have just bought duro lock cost about "$70 plus and together with the duro bracket , total cost $90. The body is the C shape type. Saw a Yale brand of a similar design cost about $50 plus. The salesman comment that duro brand is better Yale. I am a bit surprise as Yale has been in the market for a very long time.

It was the older duro that have this problem, it was some design/ manufacturing problem +wear & tear on the catch that supposed to retain the big fat bolt, after a couple of years of usage, the "catch" will be kinda loosen up, a light firm knock using a small hammer on the right part is enough to open it.

If you remember a few years back duro was selling the gate lock with a pad lock FOC, it was at the peak of the problem.

I still have the old duro in the storeroom junk heap, am still using duro, but once in a while i will use a small hammer to whack it to check. I just like the convenience of this lock, esp if you are carrying many things....

btw it is made by a singapore company with taiwan design.....

I'm using Duro lock.

I heard there is a salesman going around, and telling ppl that Duro locks are no good. He demo by using a 20 cents coin and he knock against the Duro. The Duro lock just open up after a knock.

I never personally see this, but my MIL saw it with her own eyes with her own Duro lock.

Nowadays seldom hear in the news or newspaper on housebreaking. We don't keep large sum of money at home. If need be just go to ATM to draw money.

There are less burglar, mosttly conman.

u remember our army days? the famous albiloy lock. :D that one normal cutter wont work. and then its key cannot be duplicated.

Tested and proven. My stall key broke and no spare key. Workshop guys took their cutter, use all their strength but only manage to scratch the surface. Few fit guys take turns, no use. It only open up when they use electric cutter. [laugh]

Does seems a long time since I've heard about HDB house break in. Kinda stupid to break in a HDB flat, easily spotted.

That padlock the key very skinny. Always scared will break.

It's very hard to use. The orientation of the key going in cannot be seen. My parents took 10mins to open the lock in the night with poor lighting. Since then kept in storeroom

but yes, i think it would take a sledgehammer to break open without electric cutters.

Yup, there's a exact position to place the key. Sometimes cannot push in completely, must shift position and turn slowly, keep trying.

I wonder what it takes to break those super thick ones used in arms store.

From then on, we are dam impressed with abloy, no gimmicks.
