It's just a small mall actually, and I think the current crowd will lessen in the next few weeks, once the initial euphoria dies off.

Many shops not yet opened, and the crowd is mostly sight-seers milling around. Or those foreigners hanging around, in the weekends.

For those places that are already opened, manpower problem not yet settled, IMHO.

Anyway, my recommendation is to visit only after 2 or 3 months once it has reached steady state.

a word of advice if u wanna go..park at the mscp beside the mall. tat one also very hot during peak hours hor..

If you don't mind walking a short distance, park at Science Centre, free parking [lipsrsealed]

It surprises me sometimes that people just will not take the trouble of walking such a short distance; preferring to queue and wait long long at the MSCP [hur]

The MSCP next to the mall is very packed on weekends... due to the number of tuition and enrichment centres operating in that area.

how they managed to make eaters clear their own trays? cant they just walk away after eating? :D

I think the management will find it very very hard to enforce. Especially that area is packed with foreigners, esp PRC... even worse social behaviour! If you can educate them not to let their kids urinate in the hand-wash sinks... already good enough [laugh]

i do not think there is any enforcement..the mgt is relying on patrons' civic mindedness

they should just install a PA system to announce every 5 mins 'THIS IS A SELF CLEARING FOOD COURT.PLEASE CLEAR YOUR TRAYS AND PLATES YOURSELF' to nag at the patrons and also please announce in 4 official languages.MAKE IT LIKE A NAGGING!sinkies love to be nagged at.just repeat every 5 mins and it will get drilled in their heads.

the food court can help by position all the trays and rubbish collection points at convenient locations for patrons,so that 1 don't have to walk from 1 end to another end just to return the trays and plates and also since it's a self clearing, the food price should be at least cheaper than any other similar food court.

I had been clearing my own trays for a long time.

A couple of times, especially in food courts and hawker centres, I get all the weird stares and looks (including some cleaning old aunties and uncles).

I am not saying that I am very civil minded but if you eat from the tray, you clear the tray from the table after that. Simple as that.

It is sad that we need a machine (in this case a PA system) to remind us of our civil mindness or social behaviour.

Clearing own tray in public foodcourt? I dont think it works, as most people here are so lazy and selfish. Even remember when back in school canteen, when clearing own tray is a must and yet some students also dont clear their own tray.

make them pay $1 for each item ordered and will refund back $1 when they returned their tray and dishes.

I've been clearing my own trays since school days.

Unfortunately, from my observation, less than 10% of people do it at food courts. More at fast food outlets but not even 50%. <_<

anyway if it's same size as old JEC, it's very small.

Unless i want to ice-skate, i won't bother going!

it is easier to clear own "plates" in fast food places, cos normally what would be left is just disposable, i.e. just throw anything into the rubbish bin, and put the tray onto the drawer..

but how to do that with bowls, plates and other cutlery? i would imagine it to be messy to both oneself and the surroundings...leftovers spilling out, soups splashing over, fork and spoons dropped onto the floor and not be bothered to picked up...etc..

kudos to u for being such a civic minded individual..certainly not everyone behaves the same as evident from the sightings i'd witnessed @ Ikea and fast food restaurants

There is a second thought in that. If everyone does, what happens to those old uncles and aunties doing that work? They would be out of job :o
