Alvinlkw Neutral Newbie April 14, 2012 Share April 14, 2012 Hi bros, Anyone has advice on removing tree sap on your car? I was parking at the zoo today under a tree. When I came out, I saw the entire car was "sprayed" with tree sap. Even my windscreen was affected. I tried to clean and use claybar and Duragloss polish (105), I still could not remove the stains. THe entire car now looks like having chicken pox. I don't know what else I can do now. My vision is blurrede by the spots on the windscreen and the car looks really ugly. Can I send to someone to perform a thorough polish for me or I can DIY? I have some Duragloss products but am not sure if i can use any. Thanks! ↡ Advertisement

MX5NC2 1st Gear April 14, 2012 Share April 14, 2012 Nail Polish Remover An ingredient generally available in any household where women reside, nail polish remover is just as effective at getting rid of tree sap as it is at rubbing away those coats of Coral Delight and Vermilion Sunset. Pour a good amount of nail polish remover onto a clean, soft cotton cloth. Press the wet cloth against the spot of tree sap and hold it there for a minute or two to allow the chemical to penetrate. Once the sap is thoroughly wet with the nail polish remover, rub it gently in a circular motion with the cloth. The sap should break up and come away from your car

TameDriver Twincharged April 14, 2012 Share April 14, 2012 What u recommend is safe for windscreen/windows only. Too risky on painted surfaces. May get discolored or rough patches instead.
TameDriver Twincharged April 14, 2012 Share April 14, 2012 Try soaking/rubbing off with a cloth saturated with cooking oil, May be messy but harmless, Just wash off with soap later.

Nzy Twincharged April 14, 2012 Share April 14, 2012 Try to remove as soon as possible. Normally just use QD wipe lightly a few times and it will be removed already. Tree sap much easier to remove than bird droppings.

Alvinlkw Neutral Newbie April 15, 2012 Author Share April 15, 2012 Bro, Mine is dark grey. the tree sap is whitish/greyish colour. I clean up the car but the spots stay when there is a reflection. When you run your hand over it, it feels like bumps over the car body. As for the windscreen, it's like watermark that cannot be removed. If I am looking at what other bros write, it seems like I might end up sending it to a professional detailer. Do you have any products that I can use to try out before I send to the detailer? Alvinlkw Neutral Newbie April 15, 2012 Author Share April 15, 2012 I doubt it's insect dropping. Otherwise the insect is really having hell of a diarrhea! I think it's a flame of the forest or angsana tree. It's a the zoo car park... Are you sure the tree sprayed sap onto the car? Could it be insect droppings? What tree did you park you car under it?
