Actual fact is, nothing is stopping any of us from doing likewise, going to another country, make money there

and bring it back here to spend. Totally nothing, lots of us here have done it, and we're as FT as the FTs here in

Singapore. Singaporeans buy property overseas, prices go up as well, sell when the time comes or rent it out

to make money, any difference? Are we not as guilty as the FTs we label as FTs?

 

Old Chang Kee goes to China, opens business, there, isn't Old Chang Kee a ...FT?

Just one of the thousand of local companies who do so. Our locals go to say Vietnam, HCMC

open up travel agency, FTs? Yes. Live there, spend there, rent flats etc...

 

 

Any difference? Nope. The fact about all this FT issue is, those who so label FTs can't and don't do

all these themselves..... green with envy? Food for serious thought.

Agreed. This kind of standard dare to self-proclaim expat. He is neither expat nor FT. My classification of foreign labour would be:

 

1. Senior executives of foreign MNCs who were sourced internationally to come here to work - Expatriates or FT.

2. Manual labourers / service industry workers who seek jobs here - FW.

3. White collar workers who get paid similarly as other locals doing the same job - neither expatriate nor FT.

Unlike most FTs...

 

A typical CB Sinkie is spoilt....has bad manners in reality ( they fake good manners well...just like their Master who fake almost everything)...can't accept the realities in life that there are inconveniences everywhere and the react the worst in their farked type personality when things go bad...

 

Maybe it's their gov...maybe becos here.... there are no real natural calamities...

 

Much earlier generation might have fared better...and it has been downhill for Sinkies who are born thereafter in the late 70s till now...

I agreed with you on your point.

 

Most of our local goes oversea is usually for attachment to train the staff of that countries. Most are send by companies here who wants to set up factories oversea especially Asean coutries like Viet, Laos, Cambodia and even China cos the production at this countries are much cheaper in rental and labour cost.

 

Take one example: my classmate of 30 years was working with a US company in SG. He was send to China, Putong & Shanghai factories in late 90's for few years to oversee the production lines. He returned 8 years later only to see his job in SG taken over by FT. After a year or so, he was given a 'Golden' handshake (in nice words is 'Golden Handshake' but its a retrenchment) with payout of course.

 

Another one was also send to Putong to work by local company. After few years, the company partnership spilt with China counterpart but the boss of China company offerred him to stay in the company. He had seen, working in Putong but family in SG. He only returns to SG during Chinese New Year holidays and that where we had our yearly classmates gathering.

 

Just wondering, how many Singaporean apply for work oversea. Minus those that been send by companies here?

 

I also know some friends who went oversea to work when Dubai & other Middle East countries markets open for employment in early 20's. They returned 2 years later after the contract finished as they know that they cannot proceed further up the cooperate ladder of management. The middle east countries nitizen holds that position even though they know nuts about it.

I have been working overseas since. Military sent overseas, are we also not..FT soldiers? Ah!

Worked in HK for 2yrs, US for 8yrs. Now local still fly around once in a while.

Business overseas, so I'm also a "FT/FW/FL" isn't it?

 

Job taken my FT isn't new, it's been happening since gawd knows when. Company's need to streamline and cut cost, at least your friend didn't get sacked or told to leave with NOTHING, he still got a nice paycheck at the end of the day. Nothing to complain about, if you ask me. Tio boh?

I'll say one thing Gearoil, I work alone, and I have no need to go to such low levels

to do such childish things. When I extend my hand to invite, it goes out sincerely.

No hidden agendas. I do admit, I do not see eye to eye with certain issues, that said,

I still get by and let things slide, my life still has to go on, my family still needs to be taken care of.

What I say or do, will not even rock the boat the least. All the bullsheet about 60.1% making the wrong choice

and who made the right choice, get a real life, everyone HAS his gawd damn right to vote WHO they WANT and WHO

they please. Making such statements only labels ones as a sore loser. Who I vote for is MY prerogative and MY choice,

Totally agree. Infact i often advise my FT PR friends to buy properties in Singapore. It doesn't make sense to pay that >3K+++ a month on rental when they can pay the same on property monthly installment. Should they decided to go back home one day, they can sell the place and make some money.
