Darthrevan Supercharged May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 A doctor was sentenced to four weeks' jail and banned from driving for five years on Friday for causing the death of a cyclist and four other traffic offences. Teo Tiong Kiat, 65, had admitted to causing the death of freelance writer Mok Chee Kong, 35, and causing grievous hurt to Mr Bertram Leong Poh Meng, 24, a chef, by a negligent act along Clementi Road on March 21, 2010. He had a glass of wine that evening but his breath specimen was below the prescribed legal limit. A third cyclist had testified that he saw Teo's car suddenly swerve into the extreme left lane where his two friends were cycling one behind the other. He heard tyre-screeching sounds followed by a loud collision. Lala81 Hypersonic May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 He had a glass of wine that evening but his breath specimen was below the prescribed legal limit. I believe that this is still considered drink driving. If i remember correctly some of the previous things i read here.

Unidentified 1st Gear May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 (edited) nothing get changes when the victim holds a lower social status than the defendant. so we can only hope it will be one of the ELITE/PAPPIES or their family member to get killed next time. Personally, I don't agree with 4 weeks. so do you thk its too short or long? your post like no post leh..u nvr state your stand....i thk it's too short if the cyclist was well lit and drivers are able to see him......but some cyclist do cycle like they own the road and I'm not surprised they get hit.....anyway, what's done is done and nothing can be changed... SLSAMG88 1st Gear May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 Is it fair? I am a driver as well as cyclist. Personally, I don't agree with 4 weeks. Definitely too short. Don't forget, this bugger tried to hit and run away...he only turned back when he realised he lost his registration plate and was probably returning to pick it up and run off again! Too bad that the police were already at the scene when he returned. And he's a doctor some more, with the skills and the responsibility to help, but he didn't...fvcker! Lala81 Hypersonic May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 Drink driving or not. u misunderstand my point. I'm saying that i think legally he can still be charged for drink driving even if his blood ethanol level is below legal limits.

Cllee 2nd Gear May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 If say tree truck, no need jail The driver may still go to the jail cos forgot to sound proof the car. So wif tree trunk and good sound proof, then stand a good chance to cheong again.

Nzy Twincharged May 25, 2012 Share May 25, 2012 (edited) Considering all the other cases where people were knocked down and killed this one is ok. If you want to kill someone in Singapore the best is to rent a lexus and knock them down. A few weeks jail at most.
