Hmm... what is "combative tone"?

Rephrasing, is TCH asking LTK, "为什么你跟我大小声?

Rephrasing in hokkien style, TCH is asking LTK, "ler bui song si bo?"

This guy got charisma (spelling?).

Yeah he has it in bucket loads!

I look at all the MPs we have now, he and Pritam are strongest when it comes to being able to work the crowd. They are followed by LTK and then Sylvia. At the PAP side, I see Tan Chuan Jin and Tharman as their best when it comes to charm and public speaking.

Sadly for Desmond Choo, he was not elected. He is a very likeable chap. If he had joined the worker party, he would have been in their All Star Aljunied or East Coast team next round.

Can you please read carefully before jumping into all sorts of conclusion? Firstly I said "indirectly involved". I nvr say he was directly involved. Secondly, I said "becos of his association with the master mind". The association with the master mind need not be a political association. It can be any type of association, even as a friendly association. What I'm trying to say is that becos of this association with Mr Tan(the fact that he visited Mr Tan), therefore the ISD called him up for questioning. I did not even suggest there was improper conduct on the side of Tharman or that he was involved with Mr Tan in anyway with the conspiracy. Nowhere did any of my sentences suggest that. Please avoid getting so defensive, for goodness sake.

And in any case, the point is that they do not believe there was any thing sinister about the conspiracy and therefore since Tharman had known Mr Tan, their stance is that perhaps Tharman as a senior member of the current govt can give his opinion when this matter was debated. This request is not incredulous. Given that PAP is insistent that operation spectrum was justified, since Tharman had been in contact with Mr Tan before and that he is now a senior member of the govt when this matter is again brought out for debate, if he were to tell the public once and for all what he think of Mr Tan, wouldn't this have brought bring the matter to a closure? My guess is, he is in a difficult position to do that. Perhaps risk incurring the wrath of his fellow pap members if he were to say that Mr Tan is an innocent guy if he really was (which means as good as telling everyone operation spectrum is unjustified) or that he risked facing a matter of conscience to come out and say that Mr Tan was indeed a bad guy if he was not one. But if Mr Tan is indeed the bad guy and operation spectrum is justified, wouldn't he able to give an assessment of it since he knew Mr Tan?

In political discussions, there are always speculations and analysis. If everything must be based on true cold hard facts that is already publicised to the people before discussing, then what is there to discuss??? What for then we come here to discuss things like why we think GY was not moved elsewhere to prevent him from losing his seat in the govt and etc etc?

1) I apologise for misreading the part regarding direct involvement. Hence, the edited version.

2) Many of us are already aware of the way politics are in Singapore. Hence, unless something concrete can happen such as having the 2/3 majority removed from the incumbent ruling party etc., I don't see how discussing such matters in this forum will make any difference to the way things already are. Perhaps, going into the relevant political forums for such lengthy discussion makes better sense since there will be more people in those forums interested in such discussion.

Suffice to know that generally many more are becoming aware of the need for more oppo MPs to contain the *chickens who are running around with a chopped head.*

The only reason why I responded to Fongmy and your post is to put the record straight base on information (to the best of my knowledge) especially where such information are available as proof to back the comment.

Hence, the link provided by you pertaining to the mention of Tharman's / ISD report in SDP's website is appreciated although the info is skeletal and base on an *understanding* of Tang.

You are totally wrong.

Of course they are.

Your views are myopic, totally Singapore-centric.

No they are not.

1) Inflation and high cost of living

The recent high inflation is mainly policy driven and even Tharman acknowledged that leading to his famous people who dun buy cars and ppty not affected the high inflation statement.

Also the strange pegging of electricity prices to oil prices when we actually use natural gas led to higher utility bills. Also, the increase in GST from 5-7% led to a lot of budget surplus. So $ collected was not used.

Also, if we can't control both, why are we allowing the SGD to go up to combat inflation? If nothing in our control, why have a million dollar minister controlling it?

2) Sky High Property Price

What are the 3 factors that impact ppty price most? Location, Location, location. Thus, this is very much a local problem. What happened was we allow the complex supply and demand equilibrium be disturbed by:

- Increasing the local population (increase demand) without increasing supply

- Allowed speculative foreign buyers into the market (increase demand) without controls

- Have a low interest rate environment that increase demand.

To say that we have no control over sky high property price is to undermine the good effort of Minister Khaw trying to cool the prices. You are effectively saying his cooling measures are placebos.

That shows how little you know.

In Singapore's NEM, it's 100% NG at strike price, but Asia Pacific GSAs are pegged to JCC, unlike HH as in the US.

JCC by definition is the crude oil basket that Japan imports.

So imported gas prices into Singapore, whether piped, or by 2Q2013, liquefied, are indeed pegged to crude prices.

Institutional buying into SG properties has got nothing to do with local demand.

Period.

I am trying to understand what you have written, however, it is filled with acronyms without contextual reference to what was originally discussed, thus I am unable to understand what you have written. Could you simply for a layman please?

My point is, there is a divergence in price of oil and gas (http://www.econmatters.com/2012/04/oil-and-natural-gas-ratio-explodes-to.html). By pegging pricing of utilities to oil, we have self-imposed an inflation factor unique to Singapore.

Basically, from what I guessed you are telling me natural gas is ultimately pegged to crude price, which makes perfect sense, afterall, the are all energy. But it does not answer the question why utilities are priced using crude oil price as a reference when they are using natural gas to power the generators.

Which part of local demand do you not understand? Local or demand?

Can Singapore properties bought by institute be moved overseas for consumption so it can no longer be considered local like an export? Property is called unmovable asset for a reason.

Is a purchase from institute not considered demand?

So ... what are you trying to say ultimately with reference to my original point. Even if i agree to your insane logic failure above, the other points I made clearly showed that there are policy induced factors that contributed to inflation and cost of living. Are you still insistent they are not? If not I would recommend that you read some news bites from our Finance Minister and economists who commented on our recent high inflation.

Dear Bro Neutralsg And Bro Damienic,

Greeting Good Day.

My bad that had caused your furious replies, it was "OS" that I'd meant in my earlier post and it's not "OCS".

I read "OS" in Opposition Website and awaitng Mr.T.S. to rebuttal about his involvement, but still..."Mr.T.S. preferred Silence is Golden"

Let us all watch over a Politician Integrity with his or her own deeds, my personal opinion is.... be it in our Home, School, Office, Public Forum, Society & Country.....POLITIC IS DESPICABLE !

Have A Nice Day [wave]

Bro, Thanks for the clarification.

Anyway, I don't take to heart what was written by Damienic last post to me and can concur with his comment since all of us generally share a common interest insofar as hoping for better governance in Singapore than it presently is.

Majulah Singapura!

I do not wish to write a thesis, nor provide multiple cross references in a forum like MCF.

Just take it that I am in oil and gas for a great many years.

To-date, gas imports into AP (not just SG) are pegged to JCC (for LNG) and HSFO (for piped NG).

Both of these are a direct function of crude oil price.

Cannot compare gas price formulation here, vs say the US, which is pegged to Henry Hub.

And yes, at the strike price, Singapore's electricity generation is at 100% CCGTs, fueled by natural gas only (thus crude price based), with a sliver layer on Orimulsion up in front of the pareto.

Even in our industry, many are trying to close the apparent arbitrage between lower gas prices in the west and the high gas price in Asia Pacific - to no avail, due to limited LNG ships, liquefaction and re-vaporization facilities at each end.

It will all fall flatly square back to market price, which is crude-based in AP.

Fukushima incident and closure of nuclear power stations there is just driving JCC upward.

I think I have bought and sold more investment properties (over a 2+ decade period) in my life time, made lots of money from it, to be able to understand the underlying drivers and semantics of the Singapore, Australian and UK property markets, much more than you do.

Experience rulez. -_-

So I do not wish to engage on your silly arguments.

I feel now is the best time for WP to start growing. Using the GRC system to go against pap where they will have one holding the ford at Aljunied and the rest will aim to take other GRC. Now that we know 4 of them, LTK, SL, CSM and Pritam are well known and sure can go out of Aljunied to contest in other nearby GRC and win. They are almost like a minister in pap, so by putting any 3 of them together again and contest in other GRC is like using 3 ministers to contest, the chance of wining is much higher. At the same time bring more unknown people in Aljunied and grow them. This is like using the weapon from enemy and use against them.

Of course now they will have to start working on other GRC rather than wait just before GE. I have strong feeling that WP can win Aljunied is partly due to SL working the ground for the past 5 years, whereby gaining trust from them.

Also that fat MIW woman make the people in Aljunied lost trust in them...eg the case in serangoon garden where they build a workers bunk there against the people wish....
