Accepting hampers also consider as corruption... -_-

The law of corruption is sitting on a very thin line. All is needed is a complainant and you are in. Accepting a cup of kopi (90c) could also classify under corruption act if the one giving treat need a favour from you.... [sly]

If he don't get any benifits later from you, he report = you kana.... [furious]

In my ex-company, investigators from head office flew in and carried out surveillance on one of the alleged corrupted employee. Then the said employee was caught with the supplier as well as another employee who's unlucky to be there at the coffeeeshop for lunch with them.

Ever since that, all employees are warned not to have meals together with suppliers........ <_<

In private sector, take these 'gift' as incentives.

Incentives from internal or external.... [sly]

Both also dangerous when you accept it. External no need to say but internally, why your your boss give incentives one has to beware cos it can mean your work is appreciated or your boss need you to cover up something which he need you to [lipsrsealed] .

When boss kana call-up for interview by cpib, you will be considered inside the conspiracy.... [sweatdrop]

What if they give to my children?

That means those who work as civil servant, can hold birthday parties for their children but cannot accept any gift.

It bad to work in govt sector

Govt sector is v strict after the SLA case. All gifts need to be declared but need to exercise common sense yeah? Say as friend/supplier gives your kids $2 ang pow, declare for woot? ..If give $2000 each..Ah..what you think? [laugh]

main thing is self gain.

country to country is country gain. not to enrich self. so different issue altogether.

Another report from CNA : Man fined S$25,000 for corruption

By Alvina Soh | Posted: 11 June 2012 1334 hrs

SINGAPORE: An events manager of a hair consultancy firm was fined S$25,000 on Monday for corruption.

37-year-old Faymond Huang Zhiming, who was with 101 Hair Consultants, was also ordered to pay a penalty of S$10,200. This is the amount he took in bribes from landlords and agents, in exchange for renting commercial spaces from them.

Huang pleaded guilty to four counts of corruption. Five other similar charges were taken into consideration.

Huang was in charge of sourcing for commercial spaces at shopping malls, MRT stations and bus interchanges to stage roadshows for 101 Hair Consultants and its related companies, which include Beijing 101 Hair Consultants and Beijing 101 Hair Care.

To secure rental of commercial spaces, he would negotiate with the buildings' landlords or through their agents.

On more than 10 occasions in 2008, he received bribes from Jenny Seah Sok Hong, a director of Hemus Pacific and Jason Teo Kah Siong, owner of JR Concept Enterprise.

Huang accepted bribes of between S$400 and S$3,500 from them on each occasion. In return, he would rent commercial spaces through their companies. The rental venues included Bugis MRT station, Sengkang MRT station, Ang Mo Kio Interchange and Tanjong Pagar Plaza's outdoor atrium.

A similar incident also took place during the annual IT Fair in March 2009. Huang received a S$1,500 bribe from Teo, in exchange for renting space through JR Concept Enterprise at Suntec Exhibition Hall, where the fair was held.

Court documents revealed that Huang has a string of offences dating back to 1998. The offences included theft, cheating and molest.

For corruption, he could have been jailed up to five years and fined S$100,000 for each charge.
