kschan 3rd Gear April 8, 2019 Share April 8, 2019 The difference is the type of battery and most important the re-charging capabilities. Specific battery packs for car camera comes with fast charging, like Q3.0 charging for your handphone. Whereas the normal power bank do not have such charging capabilities yet. Also the type of batteries used are of different composite. For car cameras, able to withstand heat and fast charging. Thanks for sharing, then it is not worth it to install this kind of battery. Because as someone mentioned in another thread, we can use 2 normal external battery packs and just plug one of it to the usb car camera cable to it during the night and exchange with the other unused one on the next day and bring the used one back home for charging. ↡ Advertisement

Hi, There are some notable differences between those smartphone powerbank vs powerbank for dashcam. 1. Different chemistry. Typically for car dashcam, they tend to use LiFePO4 which is less susceptible to bloating and more stable across temperature. You certainly doesn't want a powerbank to explode in your car and cause a fire hazzard. But LiFePO4 have inferior density to Lion, thus, you will find those dashcam powerbank to be bulky. 2. To be able to charge and discharge at the same time. Some commonly known as "pass through charging" feature. Most of the smartphone powerbank do not support it (Ravpower do have some models do support it). 3. Some dashcam (e.g. Blackvue, Thinkware) is operating off 12V, thus, most of the smartphone powerbank are catered for 5VDC. Yes, there are smartphone powerbank that support QC, PD which may have 12V output, however, that require the client to have similar protocol to trigger that which none of the dashcam is having that. 4. Fast charging during driving. Typically, those dashcam charge at high rate to achieve 90~100% full charge with 1 hr of driving. So this enable you to have sufficient juice especially for overnight parking mode. 5. By using powerbank, your dashcam may not enter into parking mode (I have tried Thinkware and it also stated on it's user manual). So consumption will be high and your powerbank may not last the whole night with continuous recording mode. So all in all, the premium paid is for convenience, safety and sustainable parking mode. I'm using Thinkware BAB-100 and a fully charge unit, it can last 2.5 days @ parking mode.

Lovemyride 4th Gear May 5, 2019 Share May 5, 2019 Looking to install 70mai pro for front and 70mai for rear. Do I buy online and look for installer? Is there any installer that I can go to and buy from them direct? Hi, I've been on this current setup for a few months now. So far so good and I'm impressed with what I'm getting for the price I paid. I upgraded from a basic dashcam that came with the car, so WiFi, front+back cam are a first time and excitement for me. I paid more for the pro English/International version. I'm better at English, so it makes more sense to navigate the menus on-screen in English. I bought the GPS module too just for the fun of it, which means the camera talks quite a bit and it's good that it is in English. The 70mai for rear, I bought the Chinese version, since I'll hardly be accessing it and I thought there's no need to pay more just for it to tell me recording has started in English. Currently, this rear cam speaks in Chinese whenever I start the car, to tell me recording has started. Both cameras use the same app and I can configure both cameras in English on the app. I bought from Qoo10. I feel it's better to get it from a local retailer. Either pay for delivery or go down and collect. Most of them offer 1 to 3 months warranty, which I didn't need to use but I wanted to have a convenient option in SG should I need to RMA. Got the cameras installed at Soon Lee Geylang for $60, 20 min job, to fuse box. If you frequent JB, I'm sure they can do it cheaper. Overall, my total damage including installation and SD cards was about $220. I thought it's value for money for video quality that is comparable to the big Korean brands. The downside is the GPS module doesn't record speed or location but hopefully the next gen camera will have this feature. I don't think there is dedicated parking mode function on the pro (although there is an option in the menu, probably running off the built-in battery). I didn't play around with that, you might need a battery pack or additional wiring to the car battery.

Lovemyride 4th Gear May 5, 2019 Share May 5, 2019 Did u link both front and back for 24hrs recording? No I didn't do 24/7 or parking mode recording. So no recording when the car is off. If parking mode is a must, do explore your options by checking with the installation shop on how they can do it on this camera, if it is at all possible. From how I understand it, it's either powerbank or wire it to the car battery instead of fusebox (with the option to program a cut off if the car battery is below a certain voltage). My car is parked at home most of the time. I thought maintaining some kind of parking mode would be more of a pain and I don't think there is a decent solution that will allow the camera to remain on parking mode for 3 or 4 days in a row. I'm aware I'm taking the risk whenever I park outside at shopping centres but I don't want to run the risk of having the car being unable to start for whatever reason. Although I don't use the car a lot, I really need it to work when I want to use it. Please share your solutions on parking mode after you've got it done. I'll be interested to hear and see if it can be tailored to suit my needs. I'm exploring along the lines of an easy way to enable and disable parking mode, where I will disable the parking mode when I'm parked at home and only enable it when parking outside. drsmith7725 Neutral Newbie May 5, 2019 Share May 5, 2019 Anyone using the korean inavi black clair? Feedback appreciated. Unfortunately, Manual is in Korean only, Website is Korean only, the iNaviPlayer Apps is in Korean only. - The default timezone is Korea - To change the device system date and time, - You will need to download iNaviPlayer 2.6.2, install (in korean - I hit default buttons blindly through the installation process), - Ut will reconfigure your Windows to support Korean Language - Before you can download, you need to register your device in the website with your registration number all in Korean, - Future update(s), of iNaviPlayer 2.6.2, firmware, etc. all in Korean language. I tried to export it out from local album but it said couldn't access the album. Anyone? It sounds like you've gotten to the stage where you can view the videos on the app? Did you enable the app to access your phone's local photos album? You know the usual privacy settings on iPhone? The alternative is to remove the SD card and put it into your computer. I'm using android.. hope it work as well as ios... how long can a 64gb card record? can the device support 128gb cards? If I remember correctly, the specs states 64gb (for both pro and normal). If I remember correctly, it would be about 7 hours of recording for 64GB, FHD. I'll double check for you later.
