To be fair, they should both travel at the same speed. In their mind, they keep thinking of using full EV mode, which is not efficient as well. I think they don't understand Toyota Hybrid cars too well.

Nevertheless, the Passat FC is remarkable!

I am not sure what you mean but just to answer your question maybe 3years? Oldest i can find on carmart is Feb 2009 (3.5yrs old).

What i mean is an SK* car on the road doesn't mean it is new just as an SB* plate does not mean it is old. My fren bought a 1.5 year old BMW320 and his plate is SKG which is the current series.

Yes I'm impressed, from Top Gear Mag, they did a test btw Passat 1.8(IIRC) with the CT200h.

Travel from Sg to end of Malaysia and U turn, Passat with 70 liter tank can complete the loop and reach SG with additional 50km of run before it run out of fuel, speed at an average of 90 kph.

The CT200h travel at a pathetic 50kph and run out of fuel when on the return league half way clocking 26 ~27km/l

I think it's dumb to run it at 50kph for this test on the CT200h, the gear ration have not even reach it's most efficient speed.

I remember this one

The Passat cheated, the driver engaged the gearbox into N and freewheeled on the downhill segments

For the record, Lexus said that their hybrid is more efficient in the city (start-stop traffic) than such long distance journeys. Because that's when the electric motor gets utilised more (hence more fuel efficient).
