Hi all,

Like to seek the advice and expertise of everyone in this forum. I was involved in an accident with a Taxi late last year and till today it has not been settled yet. I didn't claim from the taxi insurance as my repair is only $100! But the Taxi is claiming his 'holiday expenses' on me!

Anyway, my question is what if I change my insurance company upon my insurance renewal and the settlement is not solved yet? Is it still liable to settle for me?

Yes, the claim record will be under your name already. Is your renewal coming up soon?

Yes. Your insurer, at the time of accident' is liable for the claims.

Yes. You may seek to change insurer.

However, I'd be curious to see how you declare to the new insurer with regards to your status - given that there's an outstanding, yet-to-be-resolved claim against you.

Yes you may change your insurer.

But you must declare all outstanding accident claims (settled, or still pending) over the last 3 years, in the application form.

If you choose to withhold information on your recent-past accidents (3 yes), the insurance company can take action to rescind your policy and thereafter, your name will be black-marked and no other insurer may want to take you on.

I was related a case like this by one Volvo SE.

In the end, he has to (01) transfer his car to his wife's name, just to have it re-insured.

did you make a police report? Was it your fault? If it was..then of course he would claim it on you. Even if you change your company, you are still liable. I got into an accident during the last year of my insurance policy then I switched to dbs motor insurance. Still had to settle the previous case.
