Kazuo Neutral Newbie October 12, 2012 Share October 12, 2012 My stock tyre size is 225/70/16. According to the calculator if I change my rims to 18", the tyres will have to be either 235/55/18 or 225/55/18. Does this tyre spec even exist? ↡ Advertisement

Roberttan 5th Gear October 15, 2012 Share October 15, 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara. Thinking if I should upsize the rims or stick with it. you have 2 way to up size 1st is 225/65/17 17inch rim (wider choice of tyre ) 2nd is 235/55/18 18 inch rim(quite esily available too but not as wide choice as 17") just my POV , dont go for those ultra light weight rim if you can. Audi655 Clutched October 15, 2012 Share October 15, 2012 May be 17 inch , 18 inch more expensive and your consumption would be very high.
Kazuo Neutral Newbie October 16, 2012 Author Share October 16, 2012 Agree that 18" upgrade will cost a lot more. If really $300 per piece, it will add up to $2K easily for an upgrade 17", not sure visually how big is the difference. If not much, then I would rather stick to 16" Still trying to look around at vehicles, especially the same model and make, to see if it is worth the change. Cybernation Neutral Newbie October 21, 2012 Share October 21, 2012 Overall it looks nicer with 18, but gotta do sumtin about the cabin noise level (some sound proofing probably). New tires no problem.. but after 10k the noise will start to built up.. Mine GV as well.. upgraded to 18.. no regrets.

Roberttan 5th Gear November 17, 2012 Share November 17, 2012 Hmm... I saw tyres of size 265/70/16. Need special wide rims for it? SO long the specicfication fits your car is OK (PCD) SUV tyre does not need very wide rim width to accomadate the wide tyre like your case 265 (width ) it need min of just 6.5 inch for SUV tyre if is a saloon tyre (street tyre) 265 will req min 9 inch rim width
