Convert or change?

Due to change in lifestyle (change of workplace and shifts, wife giving birth, need to send wife n baby to&fro to parents house, etc),would it be advisable if I were to convert my 5yr old OPC honda airwave or to change to a 2nd hand normal plate car?

If i were to convert,it would cost me around 7k. I have yet go to 2nd hand dealers to check out the market. Brand new is totally out of range as COE right now is  .

my car condition is running fine with no problems. Can any experienced bros here give their valued advice? So if change to normal plate, will I get a pro rated PARF when i scrap..?

Many thks in advance for your kind honest advice. [:)]

I would convert.

No Matter how much you have to pay, it will be a better deal than buying a second hand car right now. You buy now, you will be chopped like no tomorrow paying way more than the paper value of the car, besides - your current car you know well, and how it has been maintained and you know that the milage is genuine.

+1, I would also convert to normal rather than getting an unknown used car with much more higher milege compared to your OPC. You can drive your "HONDA" for another 5 years without any major issues!

convert is the answer. you need to fork out hard cash for the conversion. Again not sure if any bank would loan you this amount for 60mths for the conversion. Probably you can let us know if you taking loan. Mine also OPC. Am thinking also whether to convert or not. But having to fork out large amount of cash for the conversion quite heart pain. So if there is loan to be taken up is good so wont feel the pinch. Any bros here take loan for the OPC conversion to normal plate? How does it goes about?

I converted my 1st drive from OPC to normal plate based on need base after driving for 1 yr n pay the lump sum in the form of cheque to LTA. Given current COE, I wld encourage u to convert if u really need it. They will give u a letter for u to break seal and change to normal plate. For the Parf part, Im not sure.

My earlier ride a 5 yrs airwave too after having to foot out 9k for the conversion. I decided to sell and bought a 2nd hand (3 yrs old Toyota)was given a cash rebate of 3k.

So far no regret no need to cash out however the monthly installment of 300 increase course I getting a premium toy.

Do your home work first before jumping the bandwagon. Go asked how much is a secondhand car. Do bear in mind to factor in the years usage, model, OMV, COE, and loan settlement etc for both vehicles.

hi bros, am digging this out to ask for some opinion. am thinking to covert my OPC next year Jan. Next yr Jan when i convert my car is left with 4 years (car reg in 2008 Jan). I have check on one motoring that i need to top up $6K pus, end of near 10 yrs if i were to scrap still can get back abt $2K parf. convert due to think that car is very wasted as the mileage after all these yrs still 25K + only. car is still very very good condition until today. Am sure some of the bros here also will be thinking of converting their rides to normal plate.

Beside more freedom to use the car not having to buy e license and more petrol consumption i guess. And having to pay more road tax, i am fine with all these. Thinking back the COE now is way sky high, should i convert or not to convert?

got people tell me, say that save that money and after scrap look for a 5 yr old 2nd hand car( presuming by than the downpayment and wat not is still same like today. and 5 yrs loan for reamining)

I actually did a calculation, OPC saving actually besides the yearly $500 rebate calculate up to 10 yrs saving is only just $5K not much actually. And also road tax probably lesser off the 15% opc discount. other than that every other things is the same.

Just need some opinion from bros, whether should i convert next yr or save the money up and buy 2nd hand car there after probably a 5 yr old 2nd hand. Many thinks for those who contribute. Pls do not make any negative comments, just need opinion please. Thank you very much.
