Porker Turbocharged January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 Last time about 7 years ago I bought the Electrolux Trilobite. Was a neat piece of work. How times have changed. It was over $2000 back then
Gusruh Clutched January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 I have the iClebo Arte bought sometime in mid last year for $988. Became white elephant now. Still prefer the normal vacuum. Some of the setback I encountered with the robotic cleaner: Doesn't clean corner well. Will get stuck at certain furniture. Need to prepare the area to be clean. Rubber band on the floor will get stuck on the roller and stop performing. You need to clear the bin and roller very often as hair trapped at the roller will create problem. I need to use the normal vacuumto clean the robotic cleaner. Although it helps in one way or other, I felt I am more busy when having the robotic cleaner. It is now nicely packed with lots of accessories purchased separately.
Mazdaowner Moderator January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 I have the I robot for 2yr already, it's good , the biggest set back for me is that it's a pain to remove the dirt n hair that trapped in the roller, end of the day, I fel it's better to use an ordinary vacuum cleaner where you can just throw the dirt bags after few vacuuming Even your vac also need maintaining lah, car vac you need to remove the damn filter, clean out, wash, (filter not cheap and some not easy to find either) I don't see it as a setback, if you have to sweep everyday, this one does the job for you, the setback is minor. Plus no need throw dust bags, just dump the swept dirt away, weekend do machine cleaning can liow. Mine is pet fur, so worse then yours. My wife not complaining, she loves it, saves her so much time, it sweeps when we're out of the house.
Vextan 1st Gear January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 i think www.renotalk.com has some discussion on robovac, and maybe even mo, mass order, not the dude.
Mazdaowner Moderator January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 MO, which is better if u only want to buy one? Doc, not a choice, I have both, Roomba is the vac/sweeper, Scoomba is for "mopping" the floor, which actually, it scrubs the floors, and the brushes get between the tile gaps, our normal floor wiping/mopping won't do sheet. I have two batteries for the floor scrubber, one to do the hall and 2 room, other battery will do one rom and the kitchen. If you ask me, for you, I'd say get the Roomba, it sweeps the floor for you. There is a local guy who sells these machines, and repairs them as well, don't buy from agent, price is cut foreskin type of price.

Mazdaowner Moderator January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 i think www.renotalk.com has some discussion on robovac, and maybe even mo, mass order, not the dude. That robovac guy is a SIA engineer, who buys in and converts the thing for local use. I heard he buys reco units and sells for new, I don't know how true, but I ordered some cleaning liquid from him for my Scooba and ended up lost, later after 3 months, I got a call from my post master (whom I lodged a case after it didn't arrive) the clown anyhow whack my address in, no such address, only "JURONG - SINGAPORE" even after I called the farker to tell him missing he heck care. This I dare say because it did happen, $120 bucks ALMOST burned because the is fellow has a one kind attitude. So buyer beware. Now I get my spares from another local supplier, some I order online. *Hint* Herpa filters.

Mazdaowner Moderator January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 Imho get a cheap one off amazon. Dont bother with PI models or local sets unless u can get extended wty Not advertising for PI or local, we DO have a VOLTAGE difference between 110-220V, you go get one off Amazon and plug in into our mains and you will have your order go up in smoke. Opel17 6th Gear January 1, 2013 Share January 1, 2013 We bought from Woot.com promo few months back. For reference only. * buyer beware, individual purchase experience may differ * Refurbished iRobot 530 @S$214.93 + Vpost @S$131.32 = S$346.25 220V/50Hz adaptor [purchased subsequently from Amazon.com] @S$30.00 + Vpost @S$26.14 = S$56.14 Total costs = S$402.39 * the above model came from USA with charger [120V/60Hz]. * subsequently, other iRobot models were listed with 110~240V/50~60Hz. So look out for the voltages. Based on our iRobot, points to take note : 1. clear the robot dust box after each mission. 2. lightly brush the filter element to dislodge dust embedded. 3. once the iRobot dock, it will start to recharge. If removed from dock anytime, it will recharge all over again. Try not to disturb it, let it have a well deserved rest. We are happy with our refurbished iRobot 530. It go round around corners and objects. Avoids everything very well. Except sofas that are about its sensor height The vacuum is the most powerful in the market but theres a problem. It sounds like a fighter jet ↡ Advertisement
