Darthrevan Supercharged January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 I think Singapore's so call expressway speed limit of 80 or 90km/h is ridiculously slow! With the amount of vehicles on the road today, SG is like a big carpark especially during peak hrs!!!!   its not about the speed limit..its about how well the motorists follow the rules when driving..the more kept to their lanes, use signal indicators and also follow the speed limit and kept approriate safe distance..the faster everyone arrives at their destination ↡ Advertisement
HoLiaoLiang Neutral Newbie January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 Not school la. It just along loyang road toward changi village. There is no car at all, i also very sleepy, nearly fall asleep. My car all stock, i use car for my work le. Speeding means speeding. Its not about your car stock or not. Please don't stereotype modified cars. Your excuses are unforgiven! RoadTricks Neutral Newbie January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 Bro, I empathized with you...I do not cordone reckless driving but speeding is questionable. At least to me. I was summoned before for 'speeding' at, wait for it, ORCHARD BOULEVARD on the 4th of Jan for doing a speed of 62km/h at a 50 km/h road.Behind Wheelocks Place opposite the condo construction. A road of 4 freaking lanes. 62KM/H ON A FOUR LANE EMPTY ROAD. summoned 6 pts and fined 150 bucks. paid the fine and take the points. Colleagues were laughing at me coz 50km/h at that road is damn useless.Have to go gear 3 all the way. Who does that? Colleagues said I was damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn suaaayyyyy. Nevermind I said. I broke the law. No matter how stupid sometimes it can be. Givechance 1st Gear January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 What on earth makes you think raising the speed limit will allow traffic to move faster if there is a jam. One thing ERP charges based on is the road speed of vehicles traveling. Of the speed limit is raised, naturally all vehicles including goods and trucks, will be moving faster and and merge with the cars speed. Thus one good outcome is perhaps lesser ERP on expressway, due to smoother and higher speed of vehicle traveling.
Nemo6089 1st Gear January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 I hope the TP can do something about those lorries, buses and vans that speeds on the road. Wish someone wake up and re-introduce those beeper and flashing light speed control device.
Nicholas 5th Gear January 31, 2013 Share January 31, 2013 but its not wrong if u dunno the speed limit Ehhh how you pass your driving test? If no speed limit sign or unknown speed limit, the road is 50 km/h.

Simplecar 4th Gear February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 One thing ERP charges based on is the road speed of vehicles traveling. Of the speed limit is raised, naturally all vehicles including goods and trucks, will be moving faster and and merge with the cars speed. Thus one good outcome is perhaps lesser ERP on expressway, due to smoother and higher speed of vehicle traveling. On SGP roads, we are mostly travelling below the speed limit because of traffic, and especially during peak hours. Raising speed limit could result in more serious accidents. I would rather have lower speed limits. I have tried travelling at slower speed and the traffic is smooth - no jack rabbit situations - vehicles give more space between each other. Simplecar 4th Gear February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 +1 No excuse for those who claim "I don't know the speed limit lei" That only shows he/she is a driving idiot! True - those who dont know or did not read the signs can take cue from one very obvious sign - lane width. Took me so many years to make this realisation - the narrower the lane width, the lower the speed limit. Just use this as a guide. After a few hours of driving, we should be able to guess the road speed limits.
Steptronic Supercharged February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 i just received my 3rd warning in a year. my 1st was for doing 100+ on BKE, speed limit was 90 2nd was last month along lornie road, doing 80+ on 70km/h road 3rd was last week along sengkang, doing 80+ on 70km/h road i don't believe the TP will summon people unless you were driving dangerously. all the 3 incidents i was driving in a straight line and very safely so i think TS no need to worry so much, probably just a warning at best Normal practice is very first offence is issued with warning. The next one onwards sure ticket. I guess in your case, you were just 10km/hr above the legal limit. With 10% allowance, you were just marginal. So, forgiven. Do not speed anymore, your next one would award with points and some contribution to our Nation building!

Colleagues said I was damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn suaaayyyyy. Nevermind I said. I broke the law. No matter how stupid sometimes it can be. There is a reason for limiting speed to a level for each and every road. It is very difficult for normal people to analyse these speed limits. If you were doing 62 km/hr on a road of 50, you should be receiving only 4 demerit points and 130$. You have received 6 points and 150$ means, you were doing anything between 70 and 80 km/hr on Orchard Bld! Dangerous man! Control!! If your friends say speed limit is stupid and if they encourage you for speeding, they are bad friends! Cut them!!
Steptronic Supercharged February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 but its not wrong if u dunno the speed limit lol, you mean you do not know speed limit of your car? If in doubt, move to the slowest lane and do not exceed 50km/hr!
