<advice needed> side mirror hits

dear all,

 

i might get flamed for this but just want to know.

 

yest my car's side mirror hit another car's but no major damage seen. both of us never got out of our car as its raining. but the lady did shout that she will take down my number and go home and check any damages.

 

what's my next course of action?

 

my mirror and all looks ok. hers too (from what I see)

 

btw i was going to turn right and she was going straight..

If only mirror, I would take photos of my car on that side immediately and email to myself as proof of the date/time it was taken.

Then, I will sleep over it till a claim comes. Then I will let insurance deal with it.

You still need to lodge a report in accordance to GIAS regulations. Failure to do so might result in lost of NCD if the other party lodge a report against you. I was involved in a mirror incident few months back and both parties lodged a report thought we never stop.

No matter what should always come down to check, that's your mistake.

 

'Simplecar' here mentioned take photo of your own mirrors, good idea. This is to proof that no major damages are done.

When she calls you about the mirror, be apologetic. If she say wants to bring to workshop u better go take photos of her mirrors first. (or ask her take to send u) Later workshop change the entire mirror + respray will cost you a small fortune. Then the photos will be proof that the mirrors' damages are too small to require that.

 

While we can advise what you should do, maybe some people are advising the lady how to best claim you, so better be safe than sorry.
