Any bros here who booked cars with $40k thereabouts COE rebate and were successful last round or the one before?? Cos I heard some dealers although say $40k rebate but bid $60k+ for CAT A cos they still make abeit much lesser. Better make less than nothing at all right??

It is possible to secure the COE but it really depends on management's decision whether they want to sell the car without margin at all. They are unlikely not to do that and wait for 1 / 2 mroe rounds to soften to 50k.

Yea, most ADs will bid beyond the COE rebate price, but probably + 5 to 10K for jap/kor cars. If COE fluctuates too much, buyer will usually have to top up.

For cars with higher mark-ups, (e.g. conti cars), the rebate can be low (e.g. 45K) but the actual bidding amount could be much higher. It's all relative to the car price.

Did a quick scan and noticed most Jap/Kor ADs offer 40K rebate for their Cat A cars on their latest pricelist. Based on the offers, am predicting Cat A will drop to around ~40K by the coming month *fingers-crossed*

Given the current curbs tightened, i doubt they will want to bid high for u since there will be weaker demand. meaning to say softer coe expected in montsh to come. So they rather bid at the 40k n earn a big fat margin later.

[For cars booked @ low COE rebate level] Agree ADs will bid at/close to rebate level for the first 5 bids - it's the last bid (usually 6th bid) that's the defining moment. It's either AD make a small profit or breakeven (of course the COE price must not exceed cost of car) - totally up to the discretion of management. A lot of luck involved...

Buying a car is a supply and demand game. But in SG, cars are always in demand :)

I had seen COE paper..... same quality as toilet paper.....

why we have to pay so much for a piece of paper to get a car?

U sure? I've seen my car log card before but never my COE paper. U printed it yourself or what?

Thinking of it. A COE is a paper. In the first place, it shouldn't be funded by loans. That's kinda funny in Singapore. [;)]

It was created to make money out of basic necessity of those who can afford. On paper it was a genius idea when it first started years ago, back then when there's no Internet n less transparency. Now Coe has caused huge inflation n they actually have to be accountable now. If u inflation adjust, we are nowhere near 90s Coe peak.

High n flexible financing = inflationary environment. So theyve achieved their goal of making tons of money, but now suffer the consequence of high inflation

Wonder those who have booked under high loan need to cancel booking or go for the 50/60% loan instead?

Those secure before last Friday still honored..

Actually a lot of Singapore brought car to park at car park . I seldom see my neighbour car move. I thought we should fully utilized it.

+1. Agree. It will be foolish for AD not to try to secure the bid by 5th or 6th bid. ESP in these times.

Maybe many will renew Coe since most cannot afford the upfront loan.

you need to pay cash for COE renew unless you take personal loan.

if someone cannot afford the downpayment, I think they had difficulty in renew COE. [bigcry]

Maybe these are the cars which owners bought during the cheap coe period?! Remember during that time, any ah seng, ah ming or ah huay on the street also buy a car. After buying, maybe these people thought dont use car so often, then no need to spend so much on the car, that's why you see them park their cars more than using?! :D

35k per year? Either you work as sales, or stay in west but work in east vs, or you often drive your car up NSW?! [:p]

Only local usage. My next car will be a diesel. :D
