USB Port Problem

I just bought an Asus laptop today and was surprised to find that the 2 USB (2.0) ports located on the right side of the laptop can't be fitted with any USB devices such as mouse, printer, camera etc. There is however no problem with the 1 USB (3.0) port on the left side of the laptop. Would appreciate if any forummers can help me on this. Are the two (2.0) ports locked or something? Or is there more to it? Haven't come across anything like that.

Thanks lots!

Oh sorry, what I meant was the mouse or any USB device just can't fit into the slots. It's really very strange!

have you tried multiple USB devices to be sure?

This is strange but anyway look at the two usb ports and focus on the two V shapes on each USB port. Those are bendable clips which one could possible bend inwards or outwards to help adjust the fit for USB devices. I adjusted mine for a 5 year old computer because the repeated usage had made the USB port loose.

I will advise you to bring back to Dell and get them to do it for you.

Thanks Happily.Attached is the image which shows the 2 ports that can't be slotted with any USB device. I tried many devices and all failed.

Maybe just need to push in hard that's all.

If you afraid, then just bring down to service center or the place you bought it from.

Thanks Nicholas. I didn't use all my strength for fear of damaging the ports. [sweatdrop] Yeah I think I will try bringing it back ...

Without a doubt, those are USB 2.0 ports so no mistaking on your part. the ones with blueish inserts in them are USB 3.0. Do bring your notebook to Dell and see what they say.
