Neutral Newbie

Hmm... you are probably right. I guessed it may not go into parking mode if there is no way for the cam to determine whether the engine has been switched off.  And without going into parking mode, I'm not sure if it will also activate the motion detector.  Probably these are the reasons why ZMC don't sell or want to hook it up to an external battery?  If that's the case, they should have told me before my purchase when I enquired about the external battery.

I'm using the older version of dash cam from Thinkware and I'm able to power the cam with Cellink B and yet activate parking mode.

You need some DIY to get this done.

Typically, the cam comes with 3 wires:

1) 2 wires for power (ie. +ve and -ve/GND), you'll connect these 2 wires to Cellink B. This is straight forward and standard across most models.

2) There is a 3rd wire know as the ACC wire. It is a signal line to detect when you switch off the car's engine and thus switches the cam into parking mode. What you need to do is to link this wire to the 12V Cig point. When car engine is switched off, Power to the 12V Cig point will be cut (for Conti cars, there is a few minutes delay in power cut off after engine off). This will signal the cam to switch to parking mode as long as Cellink B is providing power the cam as in s/n 1.

Thanks!  This is really helpful.  Guessed I will try to get a Cellink B installed by a workshop/technician.

The orange/white EVO series? I got the red/white EVO Plus.

I am using a pair of Samsung Evo 64 GB (Orange/white) in my Panorma X2 and so far it has worked fine for last few days.

Bought it from Q0010 for about $45 (2 cards) after using some Qoo10 discounts from BizGram (Seller).

Didn't know the Samsung Evo also have (red/white) version as I thought only got 1 type lol.

Just brought thinkware dual channel today at the car show and to my surprise, the authorised dealer does not carry the Cellink B and wanted to charge 300++ for a B3, which I of course turned them down and told them that I will buy my own.

Also beware, they will charge you additional fee to install the B3/6 despite the fact that they have promised to install for free initially.

Anyway, what are the thoughts here, do you think it is better to have it linked up to an external battery or tap directly to the car's battery as they keep telling me that thinkware does not need the external battery with its built in power management, but buy it for a piece of mind as missy will be driving the car, not Uncle.

Cellink looks like under BlackVue product, which is not surprising that they want to charge you extra.

Anyway, I saw B3 selling for $198 & B6 for $288 at the BlackVue counter.

Thanks, and I saw the same, wonder why they don't want to bring in a comparable brand for buyer so to have a peace of mind

Any user reviews or feedback on Thinkware H50. How is the cam working in night mode.

Also looking for feedback on H50. In the day can capture number plates of moving vehicles?

I also heard about the warning beeps. Any way to turn them off?

TIA!

Thank you you brought out a very good point right there.

We are working on an external battery at the moment. The engineer and quality control team are working effortlessly on it. But due to think wares stringent QC. We don't know when we will see it or we might even not if it fails the test.

Give us a month or two and hopefully we have some news from there. Thank you for choosing thinkware =)

Really hope ZMC can find a solution fast.  My parking mode shuts down just after about 15-20 minutes of recording.
