1fast1 Supersonic June 16, 2013 Share June 16, 2013 (edited) After a couple of weeks of ///M135i ownership, I can *heartily* recommend this wonderful hatch. EDIT: Just read the OP - no Bimmers, my apologies. But I hope TS reconsiders one day, it's really the best car I've ever had among all of them (yes, including the 911). Performance, practicality and the fuel economy is surprisingly good. Edited June 16, 2013 by Turboflat4 ↡ Advertisement

1fast1 Supersonic June 16, 2013 Share June 16, 2013 (edited) How's the fc like? I filled up yesterday evening with SPC98, and took it for a drive today. Two adults (me and my dad, we're both huge) and my kid - that's a total human cargo weight of almost 300kg (I kid you not). Drove fairly sedately along West Coast H'way, with occasional bursts of speed reaching about 120+ km/hr on a brimming tank, and still managed an average of 10.3 km/L. My dad was commenting it was already more frugal than our Honda Jazz. Could've easily reached 11 km/L if I had been alone and I had driven in a completely responsible fashion. Stop and go traffic doesn't faze it as much because it has that neat feature that turns off the engine for a max of 30 seconds at stop lights. It restarts when one releases the brake. Not so much heartpain at lights anymore. Great car. Love it. Edited June 16, 2013 by Turboflat4

1fast1 Supersonic June 16, 2013 Share June 16, 2013 Yes 1 series is really good Am considering getting a white one for my wife to go with my black. But with the new A class, now torn between them 2 The new A45 AMG will be tough, tough competition. Significantly quicker in a straight line from a standing start. But I take solace in the fact that that edge mostly comes from AWD, and is only possible on launch control. The BMW should still be much better handling, with RWD and better steering. But the Merc will be awesome too. Persuading my dad to get one of those, then we'll have two blisteringly hot hatches. An echo of the time we had both a WRX and an Evo. Kiadaw 6th Gear June 16, 2013 Share June 16, 2013 Although I also like the Guiletta, but still better to present both cars in same pic size to be fair mah....right? I notice the size difference, but I did try to get the best pictures for both cars, to get a fair comparison. The picture sizes are coincidence. Kiadaw 6th Gear June 16, 2013 Share June 16, 2013 How's the fc like? I think its a misconception that Japanese car have better FC. Maybe 10 years ago, yes. Its not the case anymore these day. The thing is styling isn't the only thing that is dated in many Japanese cars sold in Singapore. I have the chance to drive many cars, as I regularly do business trip, & have renting package with AVIS. I recently drove a Ford focus 1.0L ecoboost engine. Yes 1.0l (Turbocharged). It produce 123hp. Not particularly fast, but the FC is fantastic. FC significantly better than a typical Japanese sedan, although being heavier. It won engine of the year for 2 conservative years I think. I personally drive a TFSi 1.8l Audi, even at 1.3 tonne, the FC is same, if not better than the 1.1 tonne Lancer GLX I used to drive back in the days (Maybe modern Japanese cars are better now, but I do not think much), at the same time produce more power. I think Alfa Romeo have this multiair engine, which are also very fuel efficient, at the same time, produce quite good power. Yes, there are good Japanese motors, but they just did not seems to put them in their B&B cars. If you get a Lexus, you can be sure its comparable with some top German cars, but for everyone else not getting a lexus...well there is still Mazda, since they share tech with Ford, but that's about it I think. the good thing about Japanese cars (B&B), are reliability & maybe resale value. I am not bias against Japanese cars, since I bought 2 previously, at time when there is clear differences in price between Europe & Japanese brand, so it make sense then. In Singapore context, when there is no clear price advantage of Japanese cars anymore, other than reliability & resale, I cannot think of other compelling reasons to get one when you get more for about the same money say if you get an Alfa. That's my 2 cents. (I am not an ALFA salesman) I think the best thing in the end is to test drive the cars. If TS think FIT or Auris is better, than by all means, since cars are subjective anyway. Kangadrool Supersonic June 16, 2013 Share June 16, 2013 Out of curiosity, why didn't anyone suggest Fiat 500 or Punto Evo? No offence. At that pricing, think they thought they are selling Ferraris.
