Nzy Twincharged August 11, 2013 Share August 11, 2013 I am even appalled that they are ADs that still bring in cars with lap belt on rear centre seat instead of 3-pointed belt. How much can they save? I think they save quite a huge amount. Cuz some cars they import without the leather seats also. Only after importing then they install the seats ma. This way the OMV will be lower. I guess easier to install seats with the lap belt for the centre seat. Many of the cars also import without the HU and speakers and installed locally what. ↡ Advertisement
Simplecar 4th Gear August 11, 2013 Share August 11, 2013 it is good to find out more since safety is at stake here. Also, this test is crashing at an immovable object. What would that be on our singapore roads? Maybe in MSCP?

Yuan 6th Gear August 11, 2013 Share August 11, 2013 to keep the omv low... some of the safety features are removed, like the side airbags and those feature that is easier to not include in the standard built... That was what I heard.
Yuan 6th Gear August 11, 2013 Share August 11, 2013 The AD already removed some of the safety features available overseas like the extra airbags so that the OMV will be lower. So the results will be different if they use the models that the ADs bring in. Yes. That was what I heard as well.

Holdenutessv Turbocharged August 11, 2013 Share August 11, 2013 Only a small bunch of vehicles got a Good rating... Mainly those Civic/Accord (US Spec, of course) , Volvos, Outlander, Forester ... It's no surprise when the K3 performed poorly when almost all Toyota/Lexus tested got a Poor rating for this type of small overlap tests.
Zogel Clutched August 11, 2013 Share August 11, 2013 Haha, good joke. Not too sure though whether those bros who bought their new K3s will share your "light-hearted" suggestion. Sadly, the reality is that safety is at stake. Only when we are faced with an impending crash, then we will start wishing we are driving a tank... Even the Conti cars are guilty : the Audi A4 and Mercedes C-class scored badly as well. And the brand new BMW 3 series got only a "marginal" score in this test. Simplecar 4th Gear August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 Tree or lamp post. Already mentioned in the video. Can be into another car as well. tree or lamp post would be deadly most of the time. Another car is better as both cars will crumple. Moral of story to me is to drive responsibly.
Pitchaxistheory Clutched August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 I drive a first generation (2005) Picanto. No airbags, no ESP and NO ABS. Like that is how? When it comes to road safety, my driving instructor used to say: "It's the man, not the machine." At the end of the day, it's up to the driver to be alert, to anticipate in advance and always practice defensive driving. No car special safety feature can save you from a crash if inherently your driving skills just plain suck.

But many people would say what if you encounter an accident, these safety features may save your life?!

Agreed, "It's the man" so even if you are super careful but you have one single dumb dumb driver, your life will be gone without protection. You can never be 100% alert. Elmo 4th Gear August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 It may be better if cars are not rated too highly in such crash tests. Those driving them may think they are driving a tank and be more "adventurous". ↡ Advertisement
