DSG Reset Procedure without VAGCOM

so how often do we reset? or when is it necessary?

Resetting IMO is not necessary. It is part of the computer system to learn your driving style via a FUZZY logic system where the transmission would react to the normal way you drive.

I find my VW behaving very smoothly to my style of driving. When I want to be naughty at time, I simply use the paddle shifters on the steering wheel ! Never fails to bring the grin to my face !

Mine is not 6sp but been using this method from vagsg days whenever the low gears starts to be bit jerky. It helps the dsg re-learn your driving style.

1. Close the door

2. Turn the ignition on, but DON'T fire up the engine.

3. Floor the gas pedal and hold it like that for 30 seconds. You will feel like you have press a button when you floor it.

4. Turn the ignition OFF, release the gas pedal.

5. Open door, close back the door and start your car to drive off.
