What's the specs ?

yes must know the details

likely cut cost somewhere

hopefully has the new transmission instead of the old 7g tronic

may be no burmester sound system, no rear electric side window blinds, no autoparking, no memory seat, no interior light LED function etc

Maybe the new E class to be launch soon will be a better/wiser buy!

The standard equipment for S320 is exactly the same as the S400, nothing has been taken out or added in. The only difference is the engine, which is the detuned version of the S400's 3L bi-turbo unit. DIfference in OMV is expected to be between $5k - $7k, which frankly isn't that much when we are talking about OMV that's above $90k.

Detuned to lower power, but road tax & FC[not important to a S-Class owner] the same, what is the point.?

I was wondering the same thing. Since the omv doesn't differ by much, c&c shouldn't have bothered with the s320 imho. Ironically, the fc for s320 is higher.

Ain't the S400 a hybrid?

Mercedes-Benz S500E Reveals Its Wireless Charging

2018-mercedes-benz-s500e-wireless-chargi2018-mercedes-benz-s500e-wireless-chargi2018-mercedes-benz-s500e-wireless-chargi

Mercedes-Benz has just given the public a scope into its new wireless charging system for the S500e plug-in hybrid.

This will be an innovative solution for automobile charging despite having it having been readily available in modern smartphones for some time now. The goal for implementing this solution is to provide more convenience for the electrically influenced driving community.

The project of wireless charging kicked off just last year with a test fleet consisting of S500e models. Mercedes-Benz claims that the technology will be ready by next year and implemented in the facelifted S-Class. It will be provided as an optional extra that will not replace but rather accompany the wired charging system.

The wireless charging consists of two separate components. The first is a secondary coil in the vehicle floor and the second a base plate with integrated primary coil. With the base plate being placed in a secure location of the carport, all the driver will have to do is park over it and let the charging take place. This charging process has a maximum output of 3,6 kW and will be constantly monitored by the car’s system.

Mercedes-Benz is also investigating combined charging systems with other manufacturers in an attempt to broaden the range of e-mobility vehicles.

Yes, only cheaper upfront cost only, and slower, less power.

S320, although new variant, is similar to the 2014 model.

if u r buying, suggest wait for the facelift (no idea when however)

From website, understand that the facelift will comes with the multibeam LED lights, 3 lines now, will definitely set it apart (at night as C class and CLA look similar like S class from the front).

Yes indeed. If one has the patience and time to wait till the facelift arrives (possibly Q4 17), he/she will be rewarded with 1) 9G-Tronic 2) refreshed exterior & interior 3) possibly more standard equipment. There's also talk of the new IL6 making its premiere in the refreshed w222, so definitely interesting times ahead.

This looks like the real deal. My only wish is that MB will offer open pore wood trim in the w222, not unlike those in the w213. We will probably know more details in a few weeks!
