I got only 3 servicing which is good for a year. Before the car show, TC is giving out 3 years free servicing package. My SE explained that TC has replaced this free servicing package into further discount of the car price. Not sure how true it is.

 

Yup I got only the above mentioned freebies. Not much more.

I booked the x-trail last Sat too at $130k. According to the SE, X-trail is now at the lowest price since its launch. The estimated delivery of my car is in Feb next year. Though I felt COE is likely to head further south, I ordered the xtrail cos my present car is expiring next year Feb.  

 

Since July this year, I have been contemplating this car. Though not the handsomest car of all, in terms of practicality, this car with a 3rd row seat for occasional use and a panoramic sunroof suited my need most. The kids love the enormous sunroof and ample space. The cabin is surprisingly but not exceptionally quiet. It did suffer some but acceptable road noise. The interior is classy and good quality, though I wish the HU can be a tad more eye catching. And I also wish it comes with electric parking brake as it looks like a standard item for some 2l cars now.

 

Test drove the car twice and the ride was smooth and comfortable, albeit the subtle lapse of power acceleration. Then again, the power is adequately sufficient for daily drive or overtaking. Of course, if you are looking for a performance car, SUV should not be top of the bucket list. Above all, one would instantly note the light steering, elevated visibility, relax and cushioned drive of this car. This car is best suited for family with kids (yes, small kids to be precise) who also occasionally needs the extra seats to shuttle parents or friends altogether.

 

At this value, the car comes with some premium features such as the electric tail gate, electric driver & passenger seats, all round camera, panoramic sunroof plus a bonus 3rd row seats. All these features could easily costs $10k-$20k more, say Toyota Harrier (my first contender if not for the lack of 3rd row which limited my seating option).

 

According to one mortoring, the basic car cost of xtrail is $51,567. Based on the current COE of $57.5k, the profit margin for AD is around 21k. In this aspect, Xtrail seems reasonably priced.

 

Bought this car primarily with family enjoyment as the top priority. Hope the above will shed some insights for those bros siting on the fence.

 

As with other new owners, I can't wait for the car to arrive (if I get the bid).

The X-Trail is obviously the best value for money SUV in this price category. A very clear choice over the almost similarly priced Outlander and makes the 20k more expensive Sorento a lousy buy.  Sat in all the Japanese/Korean SUVs at the expo and the X-Trail has the most comfortable / classy interior. The seats are even more comfortable than some of the more expensive continental makes.

The only letdown would be the underpowered engine. Wish they had brought in the 2.5 litre version.

By the way, sunroofs in Singapore are an overkill and after the initial excitement, I am very sure it will remain unnoticed. I rather not have a sunroof as it makes the car warmer (even closed) and prone to rattles, leakages.etc

 

Prices quoted by SEs seem to be confusing. I was quoted 2k off from the price of 131k and another 1k for being an existing Nissan owner which would have brought the price down to 128k.

As for requesting for freebies, one should show no mercy (though less room to request if paying full cash) . Even if one find the  freebies redundant. could have asked asked for a further cash discount (comes out from the SE's pocket in lieu of the freebies , some of which are also paid by the SE).

For any car, a higher cc is always more fun to drive with. Agreed that TC should have brought in a 2.5 variant to give consumer more options.

 

I thought sunroof was a good feature to have. It really depends on how you look at it. Of course, I think one will not open up the sunroof when the sun is scorching hot in the noon, probably more in the morning or evening time. The sunroof does gives you the added option to adjust the amount of light or breeze into the cabin. Not too sure whether a sunroof (even closed) would cause the temperature to go up. On a flip side, in a way, an opening sunroof helps to release hot air in the cabin a lot quicker. The downside as you mentioned is the reliability. Keeping my finger crossed.
