Yymail22 2nd Gear July 2, 2016 Share July 2, 2016 Hi. Here's an update on what was done to the groaking noise. Went to a workshop at Ubi. Described the symptoms to the boss. He tested drove the car, tested on undulating roads as the noise was most pronounced on such surface. He deduced that it was the steering rack. To replace with original, it would cost $600. It was $400 for canabolised part from scrapped cars. At another workshop nearby for second opinion, the mechanic jacked up the car, went underneath to check. He then lowered it, went below the steering column in the driver's seat. He took a socket spanner to adjust something. He took a ride in the area. His conclusion was a coupling at the steering giving fault. The cost to replace was $200+. His boss subsequently showed up. Understood and tested drove with me. He thought that I had over inflated the tyre pressure. Instead of 32psi, he recommended less so there is more surface area contact and less vibration to the car. I left without replacing any part. As I drove back home, I noticed the noise was absent. On the next day when the tyres were cold, I lowered the tyre pressure to 29psi. It has been 5 days now. The noise is gone. I think it could be a loose part or something that required tightening. I also enjoy my ride more as there is more grip on the road though I have yet to check the petrol consumption. ↡ Advertisement

Trex101 3rd Gear July 11, 2016 Share July 11, 2016 bro, mine single tok nia. Recently weather hot til no tok liao. Most likely it is sway bar link or bushing. I have been trying to find what make this "tok tok" for quite some time and recently i found that there is play around the bar when i move it, replace the rubber bushing and no more "tok tok" sound. Bushing cheap, cost me $30+ for a set. I also grease the rubber bushing before fit in, now super quiet. something like that.

I have sent my car to 3 different WS to trace the problem. I told them about the "morning sickness". All did visual check and said no problem. But the sound keeps coming back. Mentioned to mechanic when changing starter motor but also cannot find problem... Really fustrating. Will go bring it to check for the stabilizer link and sway bar.
