bro, u read my feedback on 1st auto semb. They nvr chg any bushing. According to mech Meng, only removed bushings, sand away rust on bushing surface n frame bore, apply grease on bore, put back bushing, retighten. But I guess gd for few mths probably since initial sounds oredi present. I'll need to go back again.

Btw, if steer at an angle have a tok sound, what might be issue? Lower arm, shock mount, bump stop?

Bro check your shock mount.

Open up your bonnet and see the mount, it shall be rounded nicely like a "bowl" shape.. When it not in good condition the depth of the bowl shape will not be so nice/even.

I once have this problem of having rough knocking sound when turning and going over hump/coming down from MSCP, esp. Only when 1 wheel go over the hump. It is found that the bearing in the shock mount is bad, total bad with the ball bearing coming out /jam from the metal ring holding it. Therefore it can't turn smoothly. The jam bearing will produce those knocking sound...

This happen when the pressure is sitting on 1 of the wheel as all the pressure will be on it causing great stress to it.

I'm driving Trajet, therefore the part shall be similar to your Tucson as our car are heavy.

imagine I have change this part 2yr ago n it is spoil.. therefore the part r not that durable.

My front lower arm bushing (the one that is bigger) recently replaced.

Which bushing you referring to?

My Imprezza S-GT same groaking sound.

6 months ago, changed the lower arm bushing. When jacked up the car, it was visually worn.

Had to do wheel alignment after that as the tyre edges appear unevenly worn.

Now.. sound has come back. Dunno is it other side or same one acting up.

Did not have this problem with previous Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi cars.

Driving the same car. Also can hear light groak/croak dunno what you call it sounds. Only can hear if it is very quiet outside like nighttime carpark.

Mechanic claims it is from the KW coilovers. Unavoidable as it ages. Are you on coilovers too? It went away for like a few days after the mech cleaned/greased up the coilovers but came back after 1 heavy rain.

Have learnt to live with it. Sound-proofing on the BL9 isn't very good in any case.

tks bro, but i chg the front shocks and mounts. perhaps need to chk the back one, since one of the sound sounded like from behind. front one i think should be subframe or lower arm.

may i also suggest the bros who've replied to this thread state the mileage of their rides. many tks in advance.

I am on R.Logic coilover, however the groaking sound is present even before changing to the coilover.

I can deal with the sound but not the sensation under my feet whenever uneven road or humps. I came down from Genting recently after parking for 1 day+, with the cold weather the Groaking sound is very pronounced.

one more point, it always tok at / when almost 1 full turn. any experience?

Yes, after 1 year, my coils started giving the toktoktok sound while turning. Can hear at low speeds on quiet nights. Only happens when wheel is at about 1 turn.

At least my mechanic claims its the coils. They have gone thru the suspension and said the rest is ok. Knowing mechanics, if got anything looking even half worn, they would have advised me to change.

Diagnosed issue is due to worn Front Control Arm's Lower inner front bushings.

Bro, u so dead sure? if this the case, I better to chg whole arm or at least the group of bushings to avoid doing over 2-3 times.

Update - replaced rear shocks last yr end. No more reverse turn at angle tok sound. Front right steer "groaking" sound still present during morning.

Was looking thru all topics/subjects for similar problem I have recently. May be this is close to it.

The groaking noise on my 9.5-year old Sylphy is audible when running on rough tiled ground and when braking to decelerate though the latter does not always occur. There is vibration to the steering at the same time. Going over humps is not obvious. It is not audible when cruising on expressway.

I suspect a or some bushings are worn and broke away but not sure which one. Unlikely to be the front shock absorbers as these were replaced a year or two ago.

Anyone with similar problem or came across some thing like this somewhere?

Thanks!

Why would I raise this problem here lah if I have no intention to renew COE?

How much can a bushing or two cost? I am seeking opinions here before I schedule to bring the car to the workshop.

mine having this issue as well. its diagnose as lower arms (for some cars there are two parts). Its also known as wishbone / control arms. Some cars need to replace the entire arm as the ball joints (bushings) need special tool to remove and install (causing higher labour). good luck

Hi Bros, i had to replace all the bushings and suspension links, inorder to rid the various Kloat sounds. Suggest you view the undercarriage with a trained mechanic and push all the joints to see where there are "loose" joints. Now whole car steers nice and quite!
