Mazda 5 - requesting owners feedback

Hey guys, just did my 1km servicing and was told I shouldn't go past 100km/h till 10,000km later for the good of my engine. He's kidding right?

 

Also mentioned I should keep Aircon at max 23-24. Is that true too?

 

I asked him to make my brake more sensitive and he said it can't be done. Really? I thought someone here did it before?

 

I have an issue with the brakes and because of it my NCD now left 20%. Brake early and give enough distance. First time I cause accident in my 12 years of driving. Never had an issue with my previous car. Looking to change a better brake pad, meantime brake early. Mazda 5 lack bite and not sensitive!!

Just checking if there is any other kind of alarm other than the blinking light in dash when you forget to put on driver's sit belt?

On M5, it just blinks and there is no alarm or any beeping sounds to remind me.

My seatbelt icon only stays there but doesn't blink when I did not buckle up

I test drove the Mazda 5 on a busy weekend, and found that I needed to depress the brakes further in order to have any braking effect. The i-stop was enabled for this test drive.

 

I test drove again another day; And was likely one of the first few to do so that day. I found that the brakes behaved normally. The i-stop was disabled.

 

Did you find any difference in the braking if the i-stop was enabled/disabled?

I test drove the Mazda 5 and the Toyota Wish. Pros of each.

 

Mazda 5:

- Better sound insulation. Strangely, it wasn't just slightly better - I found it a lot better. Not sure whether it's due to the tyres they are using?

- Overall comfort feel is better for 2nd row passengers. When I test drove, I didn't have anyone in the 3rd row to comment.

- The interior, though dated, is more pleasing. Seems like you can also use any Pioneer head unit, and it should be compatible with the steering wheel control.

- Sliding door equate bigger door opening. If you have to ferry elders, it would be more convenient for them. And if it's raining, it's easier to board the car for 2nd row passengers.

- The audio system sounded better. Could be because of the Pioneer head-unit.

- Has a sunroof, and an arm-rest for front row passenger.

 

Wish:

- Easier entry into 3rd row just by sliding 2nd row forward. You can do the same for the Mazda 5, but the Wish offers a bigger gap to crawl in.

- The boot is deeper by about 5cm. It can make a difference as to whether you can or cannot put your stroller into the boot when all 3 rows are up.

- The exterior, in pearl white, looks nicer. Think the modest chrome fittings complement the white colour well.

- 6 airbags.

- Offers keyless entry/start/stop. Am already used to such features.

- Lower selling price. Not only that, the fuel consumption is also lower. And road tax is slightly lower as well. The servicing looks cheaper as well (I saw the price for the Mazda 5 120,000km servicing)

 

 

 

I found the seats in both cars to be equally comfortable. Perhaps long distance driving will reveal the difference.

Both cars were easy to drive.

Mazda 5:

 

1. Digital Rear aircon

2. Sliding doors

3. Foldable center space to make room for walkway.

 

These three are my deciding factor.

Mazda5 Acceleration Problem

Need help, I just getting a heavy acceleration this pass few days, and when passing a vehicle once I try to accelerate more their is a 1-3 sec. gap & rmp shoot up. I would like to know what cause this problem? normally I experience this on 40-60 mph. I also notice that the engine sound when accelerating change. like before you feel the zoom-zoom sound. now its like a heavy sound. Is this a problem on throttle body or some air intake? thanks

I found that 2nd row seats (outside) have seat belts with automatic retraction, latch and tether anchor behind. They are suitable for the child car seats but if I choose to put two child car seats at the 2nd row, it will restrict access to 3rd row when I'm carrying more passengers.

 

The 3rd row seat belts come with only emergency retraction system, no latch and no tether anchor. So If I choose to put child car seats at 3rd row, I am restricted to use a belt clip (which I am still figuring where to buy and how to fix one). Putting child seat at 3rd row seems to be quite a hassle as I need to carry kid and climb in to reach the child seat. Also, it don't seems safe if other car knock from behind.

I don't recall seeing any tether anchor in the Mazda 5.

 

There's a reasonable gap to access the 3rd row if you just slide the 2nd row forward (without needing to fold forward). Try it out. My family + helper could access the 3rd row this way.

 

1. My plan is to put 2 ISOFIX child seats on the outer side of the 2nd row. Then slide one side of the 2nd row furthest behind, so the 2nd row middle seat can be accessed. Headrests of the seats holding the baby seat will be removed, so the helper can access the 3rd row without needing me to fold the 2nd row seat.

 

2. Or put 1 seat in 2nd row, and 1 seat in 3rd row. This is the most comfortable arrangement, but you sacrifice boot space. 

 

If you have 3 baby seats, you could consider alternating the baby seats (e.g. 2 forward facing, 1 rear facing) in the 2nd row. You have to get the narrow baby seats (~ 40+ cm), not those BIG (~ 50+cm) type. However, the rear facing kid might kick up a fuss.

 

If you have 3 kids of differing age, is it possible that 1 would be using a booster cushion  while the rest are still on baby/toddler seats?

This way, you might not have any issue.

The high rpm is normal for all SkyActiv engine models after a cold start. This is specially designed for the engine to warm up faster due to the high compression engine ratio.

I had ever whatsapp Perfect shades before on the magnetic shades for the Mz5 and his reply is have.

I think m5 is using clip-on type instead of the magnetic snap-on, that means need to install clip brackets. Any idea is there any magnetic snap-on type for m5?

Wow. I hope u r right. It does sound like starting a diesel engined lorry and pick up for an initial start.

Dear all M5 folks, my friends recommended me two paint protection companies. Opti shine and CS. I cannot decide as both are equally expensive. Any one wanna share your experience? Or I just do yearly waxing will do?
