Clldavid 1st Gear December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 Hi, Switching from Wish (coming to 7 years) to Mz5 ... still not sure if this is a good choice... New ride coming in 2 weeks time... Had been reading some articles that this model is going to be discontinues in US market. But no news on Asia market. Any ideas? I used to drive Wish as well. N I very much prefer the Mazda 5 now, after driving it for slightly more than a week. Last row seats are more comfortable, and the car is much more nimble than a Wish. ↡ Advertisement
Weewee1976 3rd Gear December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 Hi wee wee, can't see anything under the glove compartment le. U got any pics to show please? Thanks in advance It's not under the glove compartment. It's above it. You open the glove compartment and take a look above. There are two holes which you can put your hands into and it's there. Bro, that's interesting. Are you able to update your map if you need to do so & how to do it? Thanks Bro, just go to www.galactio.com and look for the guide to self-update the maps. You can also go to www.malfreemaps.com to update the MFM maps for Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei and Indonesia. But so far latest is still Sep 2015. Yes, everything seem ok, until I heard the news that Mz5 is not going to be in Production.... Don't worry. It's only in the western part of the world that it'll stop production. That part of the world is selling Mazda 5 as a 6-seater minivan, and maybe that's why unpopular.
2015Mazda5 Neutral Newbie December 8, 2015 Share December 8, 2015 Interesting. I collected mine last Fri and it came with Blaupunkt BP5.0. Not satisfied with its performance, I swapped it back to my old trustworthy Itronics on Mon. Maybe you check with your SE directly better. You guys must be driving a real quiet ride before changing. I found M5 to be so much more quiet than my old Stream. Haha... M5 is indeed quieter.. also confirmed by my wife.. but the passenger seats are narrower.. so hard to get in and out compared to honda stream.. .think m5 compensate the narrow length with a higher top...so give a perception that it is bigger..but for usage.. actually quite squeezy..lack leg space for my family members. M5 is higher and so you indeed just walk in to sit. Normally second row for bigger size adult while third row for smaller size adult or children. I drove M5 for 10 years and this is how my family seated inside.

Lingo Neutral Newbie December 12, 2015 Share December 12, 2015 @weewee1976, do you need to remove any screws etc to take the GPS module out? Need to remove glove compartment to access the module? I put my hand into the 2 holes above glove compartment n feel around but could not locate any item that can be easily taken out. I did see a light blue colour plastic box with many wires attached to it which I thought was the GPS module but it could not be moved.

streamer77 1st Gear December 13, 2015 Share December 13, 2015 I ve been thinking very long whether to upgrade my HU and also which model to upgrade after i got my car. After trying to play various media files, I found the installed HU (2750BT) not good enough and cannot play a number of media files I saved in my thumb drive. Its also limited to resolution 640 X 360 and max 2GB. So I decided to upgrade to AVH-X8750BT. No point upgrading to AVH-X5750BT as the specs is the same as AVH-X2750BT the supplied set. I was happy and never regretted that I made this choice. All the media files that I cannot play with my previous set were playable here. I tried high resolution files (1920 X 1080) MP4 files and was surprised that they are able to play here. Actually you dont need to spend more money adding what additional gadgets recommended by some forum members. You just need to buy one normal HDMI (type A-A) and one USB cable to ask the installer to the HU to install and pull out to the handbrake area for future use. As was mentioned in earlier post TWL allow trade in. I did not try other places. By the way if you just want to play only DVDs then the supplied set is good enough. But if you want to use the usb port then you will definately be frustrated. Another bonus in the 8750BT is that there is a slot for SD card which is missing in the other models. Besides all these and some additional specs not mentioned (you can download the manual to compare) the screen in 8750BT is much better.

My GPS module is black in colour and only held by double-sided tape. I took out the whole glove compartment as I tried to take out the SD card but it dropped off. So boh pian got to take out the whole glove compartment to locate the card. It's also easier to take out the GPS module and reposition it with the whole glove compartment out. Done that on my 3rd day upon collection of car, including installing back my previous set of Alpine speakers, Alpine 4ch amp and Pioneer active subwoofer. Now listen to music more song. My regular installer also allowed me to trade-in the 2750 at a special price. By the way, stock M5 doesn't come with tweeters although there are tweeter covers on both sides of the front windows. Hi Weewee1976, may i have the name of your installer? I am thinking of porting over my headunit, amplifier and speakers into the new car. Want to find a workshop that have experience in dismantling the interior to run the cables. Don't want a situation where the plastic parts start to creak after installation. Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
