Mazda 5 - requesting owners feedback

Price wise it makes sense, 105k vs 117k for m5. But yes, its noisy. What is holding me back is it feels like a downgrade in all aspects from my 9 year old Ody rb2... so a bit diffc to accept :p

Coming from an Odyssey, both Carens and M5 will definitely feel a downgrade for you.

For me, I came from driving a Stream. In terms of 3rd row space, Stream is still more spacious than M5. In terms of 2nd row seats, Stream is bench-type while M5 is 2+1 seats. Overall what made me jump over was the twin sliding doors, better handling and acceleration of M5, better soundproofing, and of course, M5 was within my budget.

Turbocharged

Current sitting requirements include a child seat and then 5-6 adults so should be fine for both Kia Carens and M5. But good point about M5 2nd row, so I will remember to check that out when I do the test drive.

Remember to bring along your child seat during test drive. Then have the other 2 adults sitting next to it to give you their reviews.

The ease to install & remove the child seat may also be a factor to consider. (Is it isofix compatible?)

I was considering between Carens diesel & M5 too, and below 3 factors made me decide to go for M5:

- My expected mileage is not high

- Unsure of Kia diesel car servicing cost

- More spacious 3rd row seat

got consider Wish as an alternative?

Not a big fan of the design so not considering Wish.

Similar considerations as mine, so will decide when I test drive M5

Hmm can anyone confirm if road tax+special tax (for diesel) for Kia Carens is about $2.9k annually?

I thought this was $1.5k annually that's why makes sense against the $1.2k road tax for M5.... If it is $2.9k then because of my low mileage per month then no savings already...

I see it at around $1500.

Thanks for the link but if I understand it correctly, the $1.5k is road tax and there is a special tax becoz it is diesel and it is $0.4 X 1700 cc which is $680.

1.5k is right. Road tax for regular 1700cc is about 800plus. Then add special tax to get 1.5k

I thinking of changing the headlight to white color...
Is there such thing as LTA Approved White Color Lamp?

You can't go above 4300K to keep within legal limits, and 4300K is still yellowish.

You can go to this website to calculate the payable road tax.

Another thing to take note for diesel is the CEVS rebate. You get it cheap now means when scrapping the car, you get back less too.
