Any one know about the new Infiniti Q50

I switched from civic Type r jdm on 18 inch.low profile tires. Suspension is super hard too. Switching to q50 still feels more comfy n quiet a lot more perhaps my previous ride is too firm haha. So our feel may be relative to the car we have switched from. There are lexus owners who have switched to infiniti becoz they prefer a sportier ride.

The q50 is a good compromise between sports n luxury.

Welcome to the world of low-profile tyres. I've driven a 20" for 6 years. I'll not own another or use 20" any more. I'm much happier driving a 18" now and if I can, 17" will be better - both comfort and economy.

Yes, Singapore's road condition is really bad. The only time it gets really quiet is on a stretch of newly paved road, visibly from its almost uniformly pitch black surface. However, this pristine condition does not last very long.

See my other posts on why it is uneven.

uneven or rough road surface condition will put DAS into a real test.

so far I haven't noticed anything significant. Although, the steering doesn't move that much when running over a really lousy and uneven road, even on 19s. Maybe a good thing, maybe a bad one ... :slow:

Seems that there's a difference in the Q50s for Sg and Malaysian infiniti website:

For Sport Version: Do we get this? "Infiniti Studio on Wheels® by BOSE® 14-speaker Premium Audio System, including 3-way component front door speakers with 10-inch subwoofers and a parcel shelf-mounted subwoofer with BOSE® AudioPilot 2.0® and CenterPoint 2.0®"

In SG website it just states "Infiniti Studio on Wheels® by BOSE® 14-speaker Premium Audio System"

Thank you!

I've always wanted to write in to ST on this issue since like years ago. It's unimaginable our roads were a lot more even decades ago than today. The reasons are as follows (could be more):

Digging non-stop. The biggest culprit is SingPower (or PUB). Every couple of years, they dig all over the island. Took a long time to re-pave. Thanks to the huge population growth.

Re-paving is done one lane at a time - resulting in uneven joints from different runs. Pity the bikers - is that why bikes don't ply between lanes any more ?

Thats the con of having all our electrical cables and phone lines hidden. The pro is that it is not visible and messy like some other countries. Though I say they could have improved the finishing on the road works.

Didn't hear from Wearnes they were doing anything [:|]

Got back from KL on Thursday and the SatNav there was p!ssing me sideways. It took forever to get a signal, reboot after reboot didn't help - I was using my phone with Nokia Maps so got around, and a good comparison. The first trip out on Tuesday the SatNav kicked half way to my destination, about 5km out. I was able to see the phone was a good 20-30m more accurate in location, so I mean a bit quicker.

The trip out of KL was worse, the SatNav didn't get a signal until I was at Bangi on the way out, and even then it told me to "Turn Left" because it found me on Jln Sultan. [thumbsdown]

It's annoying because the maps in the car are better, and with more information than my phone but the phone just.......works, and straight away. Instant connection and route calculation so I hope Wearnes' update, when it comes, improves the performance. I'm also not a huge fan of having it on the lower screen, very difficult to see and especially in the sunlight and/or covered in dust/fingerprints.

Sounds bad....

This must be the reason why they r not pushing hard for its navigation system cos seems like it's not ready. And will create a deep dent in their reliability as I read reviews from the web.

Pretty much efforts required from wearnes to resolve this and hopefully it can be resolved soon for new batches and update for existing customers.

There is a definite increase number of q50 spotted on the road or parking lots. Mainly consists of premium version rather than the sports which I think should be due to the whopping extra $18k diff.

In fact is more to spot a q50 than the new camry, accord or is250.

The actual price gap between premium n sports has somehow narrowed. I didnt see any q50 over the past week. So depends on where we go also. Mine mainly beteeen sotheast (where I stay) and south (where I work). All I know is I was surrounded by many mercs, bmws and audis when driving back home using Robinson Rd on thur evening.

Impressive fuel consumption by far on what I've read in this forum...

Will be collecting my car in 2 weeks. My new car is probably now on the ship enroute to Singapore harbor on 15 Sep according to my SE. 😊

Anyone has advise on things to do on car collection day? E.g. What to check and look out for? My last experience was 10 years ago, haha...

I intend to drive around substantially on the first 2 days. Any sg scenic and interesting routes to recommend is welcomed.

Will also be attending the meet and greet session with Daniel Ricardo on Thurs. Hope to meet some of you there as well.

Got below from other q50 forum fyr:

Enjoy the new ride!

Me still tear between q50 and Volvo S60 t5 drive E!

Mine is Graphite Shadow, Premium.

Was also looking at S60 Volvo T5, but I just didn't get that new car feeling as I sat in my friend's S40 quite frequently and then see the S60. It just look almost the same inside. The floating console wears off quickly for me. I have another friend, 3-year old S60 running into transmission problem, but was luckily covered under warranty. So, didn't test drive the S60 at the end cause the Q50 was impressive enough for me to place order then. Also, I had always wanted to try RWD. Hope you find your next ideal car and don't suffer the "torn apart" feeling. Good luck!
