Carbon82 Moderator February 12, 2016 Share February 12, 2016 Can anyone explain to me the rationale for choosing the Sorento diesel vs Santa Fe diesal when sorento cost almost 10K more for just the 2wd and have to go through hoops and loops to modify the HU? disclaimer: not a basher here, shortlisted the 2 mentioned models, just doing the math.... 2 main reasons imo: 1) Sorento is a longer vehicle vs the Santa Fe, so more interior space (especially the 3rd row). The Santa Fe we are geeting here is a 5 seater version in the US market, the 7 seater model (LWB) is of the same size as our Sorento. 2) Santa Fe is an older model and facelift coming this year, and probably also with better features. ↡ Advertisement

Oh really? I'll go look at the brochures for the specs on vehicle length when I am home later. I had always though the extra space in the rear of the sorento is due to clever design and the bigger side window opening. I thought the Santa Fe that is being sold currently was just facelifted late last year? Internationally the facelifted bumpers seem to date later 2015 as well. so I don't think another facelift is in order this year honestly. if comparing specs by specs, Sorento with additional 5K (or 3K?) for AWD, it is a premium of 13-15K over the Santa Fe.... Ocean6576 4th Gear February 12, 2016 Share February 12, 2016 Seems like Sorento has some pretty staunch fans here. Personally am pretty sold on this car after looking at various 2.4/7seaters. I like the specs and gadgets included. Overall look needs time to grow into. Still, given the price, specs, accessories etc, one of the better mid size SUV. Brought back the full coloured brochures for Santa Fe and Sorento. Based on the pictures, Sorento failed CO parade inspection.....Santa Fe passed. I will hesitate to bring her down to the showroom to show her the tiny HU and the fact that I need to pay 15K more over Santa Fe That's why I need more ammo to help with the decision and convincing process. One mentioned sorento is one of the better mid size SUV, what other close competition models have you compared? Have you compared Santa Fe? Any insight as to the equipment level spec for spec? Vratenza Supersonic February 12, 2016 Share February 12, 2016 Need ammo? Tell her who is the man of the house. The End. the man of the house needs to convince himself as a priority, before embarking on an exercise of expenditure that will result in the woman of the house driving the above mentioned acquisition on a daily basis as her mode of transport. The man of the house only takes over the wheels during weekends and driving trip up north. the man of the house do not need the woman of the house to give permission for his own wheels. the end. Yet to compare with Santa Fe cos still overseas. Seen Sorento in flesh numerous times, Yet to do any test drive though, no point since not buying yet. All I can say is Sorento speaks to me, after sitting in Outback, Outlander, X-rail. The overall feel is good, like the interior pretty much, the space and size. With rear aircon, luxury feel, lesser plastic, sun shades, auto tail gate, the bigger CC etc. 15k works out to be 7.5k more in down payment and $125 more per month (excluding interests). If require, we can go visit the showrooms together and do a little convincing.

Rayoflight 5th Gear February 13, 2016 Share February 13, 2016 I went to test drive last night. Was looking to get a 7 seater for my increasing family too. Power and torque was definitely there, but the initial start was very meek. From stop to moving, the accelerator wasn't responsive. Made me lag in coming out from side roads. Fortunately Alexandra Road was very light traffic last night. This could probably be my habit of not depressing the accelerator harder when coming out from side roads. But after that, the power and acceleration kicked in. Features were good as well. Tried the Smart Assist Parking, damn effective. Plus the side mirrors will tilt downwards when reversing. It was a good test drive. But alas, when talking about the trade-in and other financing parts, that's where things went downhill. C&C only quoted me 70K for my coming not yet 3 years K5. That's even lesser than the paper value. And not to mention plus body value. The agent also said as a loyalty reward, he can help me get an additional 2K discount and 1 year free servicing. ... ... I was speechless. I did read this thread before going down... ... Although not the agent fault, as these are the marketing gimmicks they are told to use, I was not moved by it. Fellow posters in this thread also mention the 2K discount and free servicing. So how does that separate the new customers from returning customers? Although I would love to let my agent (who has been with me since I bought my K5) earn the commission, but if C&C is not competitive in offering better trade-ins, I guess I will not take the bite and the plunge. Next stop, probably Santa Fe, XTrail or Odyssey. Bro, trade in prices is down down down all the way not only kia k5 Can u believe they can qoute 9k depreciation for my 1yr 3mths bmw 3series Tell them to F man

Rayoflight 5th Gear February 13, 2016 Share February 13, 2016 Trust me, your car trade in value will not be any better at Nissan. Nissan SE told me.. Only way is Mercs "overtrade" to get "higher" perceived trade in value
