Ocean6576 4th Gear February 21, 2016 Share February 21, 2016 (edited) Cons:- - no spare tyre. Only a tyre repair kit. (SF is full sized same rim spare) - no hill decend control. - no blind spot monitor. - no tonneaue cover (extra $750 option). To me this is one of the greatest miss by C&C....come on.. Your flagship SUV and you scrimp on this? - 4wd is +10k indent basis. (SF comes standard) Thanks for the write up. Above are good points I had missed except for the spare tyre. Spare tyre tends to be something most may take it for granted, especially if changing car after 5 years. Missing blind spot monitor is kinda of a let down in a way given the price tag. Tonneaue cover is something I totally missed, confirm excluding or is it hiding in the boot area? 4wd I remembered was additional 5k on indent basis. SE smoking again? Aukang 6th Gear February 21, 2016 Share February 21, 2016 (edited) Tonneau cover is extra cost $750. Sorento also has tyre pressure monitoring system. Bro Vratenza, Sorento confirm got auto hold. The tonneau cover was not on the showroom sx Sorrento so I had specifically asked about it. The SE may be trying to dissuade indenting of the 4WD, but that was his exact figure. He mentioned that they only indented 1 4WD in the last 2 months. Edited February 21, 2016 by Vratenza

Another point also is that the Sorento SX has abit more blank button slots comparatively to SF.Blank button slots is a stark reminder that the car you bought is not the top specced version of it's range. Kind of depressing when you are paying top dollars for the flagship. Both SF and Sorrento has tpms, that's why I did not highlight. Oh and both diesel SF and Sorrento has start stop system. As usual on by default at every engine start. The petrol version for SF do not come with Start stop. Edited February 21, 2016 by Vratenza

Why would C&C incur most cost as part of car import. Sadly, it is a ridiculous price to pay. Yes, there is TPMS but again, the small screen.... BTW what is auto hold? Auto hold is when u stop at traffic light. You press the button. You can lift off you foot from the brake pedal and it will remain stationary. Once ready to move off, just press on the accelerator pedal as per usual and the brake hold will auto release.
enjoycar Clutched February 21, 2016 Share February 21, 2016 (edited) My sorento ex petrol ex does not have start stop function. I wonder if it really saves fuel given the vibration it creates when it stops starts the engine. Also wonder if more wear and tear parts. Has anyone here changed the hu to pioneer or alpine hu? Is it compatible with the sorento steering control? Any one has advice whether should I change car battery and tyre when they are due? The battery looks really big while the tyre has tyre pressure monitoring system. A bit worried outside workshop may mess it up Edited February 21, 2016 by enjoycar
Vratenza Supersonic February 21, 2016 Share February 21, 2016 Can we disable the auto start stop system? Yes. But you must do it each time you start a new trip because the default is "on". I read that some makes can code it to default "off", but I guess Hyundai/kia might not be that advanced electronic wise.

Battery: just get the same or larger MAH rating battery with the same or smaller physical size battery. This is normal car battery, nothing complicated unlike hybrid battery or some auxiliary batteries that support complicated regenerative braking tech. TPMS: the 4 sensors should be in the air valve section. Any decent tyre shop should be able to handle them. Just remove from the old tyres and reinstall same way on the new tyres. They will have to ensure the installed tyres with the sensors are high speed balanced properly. The TPMS settings usually need to be reset by accessing the HU settings once reinstalled. OeteM 1st Gear February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 Hi I have registered for Sorento Diesel SX Imperial Bronze @ 151999K on Platinum package rebate at 38K with Two head rest audio video unit + rike kool premium + no loan (as Citi provides 1.58% only where as in house is 2.68%). I have few questions. Could you please advise? 1. I'm keen on AWD but have to top up 5K more and wait> 3 months. Do we really need it as I don't drive much to Malaysia may be twice a year. 2. Should I go for Standard package @ 30K rebate? 3. Can you ls share the Imperial bronze car if you have (don't want the website photos as too many lights making it more shiny. Not sure if that's the true color) Hi, understand the in-house discount is $4k if you took their in-house loan and insurance. Since you did not take their in-house loan, how much is the in-house discount? $2k?

cbeuk Neutral Newbie February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 Nope I didn't trade in my car as it was too low. I'm currently selling it myself. I just bought only the insurance. SE is Eddy from Ubi show room. I did the booking on 6th Feb when the COE was 38K. Now for the same price of 151999 am being offered an open cat Jan COE of 57K and the Cat b was 55K so my COe is 55K for OMV
Vratenza Supersonic February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 Just thought about a factor to consider. Will a tyre repair kit destroy the TPMS tyre sensor? I don't want the situation when I have a flat and yet has to decide between using the repair kit vs saving the TPMS sensor.....

From here, we can draw conclusion that, Kia over all profit margin for their cars generally quite reasonable compared to other Japs and not to mention Contis. They make the least from the petrol version and less for their SX trim vs the Ex trim. ↡ Advertisement
