Jap cars are no good in this kind of crash , drivers don't have chance . Conti cars will be much better survival rates . My friend have similar crash there , his Volvo total wreck too , but he got away scratch free. That's why if you can afford it better go conti way.

Bro u r wrong..i have seem a mazda 3 (latest ver) in sandwich by 4 to 5 cars (chain collision) mazda front and back looks ok..front taxi's back totally flat..back bmw 3 series's front crush quite jailat..

Maybe the passenger protection zone for conti cars are good..but at high speed crashing to a strongly rooted big tree..survival rates for any cars is a gamble..

On youtube..you can see videos of crash tests for FXT and other conti cars..they talk about car crash impact (how car flatten out front, back, anf side) and how good the passenger protection zone are..

Here's the ncap rating for forester..u can download the report and happy reading.. :)

Forester small overlap protection for passenger side is poor, already proven in the States officially. car makers mainly strengthen driver side only to get better score cos the crash tests usually done on driver side.

No dispute bro..but despite the strong driver protection..in this case the driver did not escape the fate..what i am trying to point out that we cannot say "jap cars are no good in this kind of crash, and conti cars have better survive rates"..it depends on speed and what the car is hitting into..

NCAP test is done in a controlled environment and at 'low' speeds. Bring up the speed each 5km/h increment will have major diff in the out come.

Also collision angle in real life can be from anywhere...speeds unknown. Passenger load also.

NCAP also never consider rear end collision.

No doubt conti cars are far tougher...just feel the weight of the door etc. Try pressing the panel usually won't move...Jap car will bend in. No matter how good the frame...harder of covering metal helps.

But who wanna be botak if have hair.....sighs.

Also after accident repairs...if far easier to bring Jap car back to shape....conti...less so. Even plastic bumpers are harder.

Also after accident and car is repaired...it's not the same...bending paper clip idealogy.

Not aiming any car in particular but I'm definately for conti but locally I've been priced out so suck thumb....drive safe.

Front impact test for ncap is tested at 64km/hr..for me i dont think its at "low" speed..its normal driving speed for majority of roads..

Rear impact test is done..base on whiplash report..

Agree on the metal sheet..but on collisions, its the structural frame of the car and impact absorption material used on the car that is more important..but conti metal sheet is definitely good for hard knocks by car door parking beside their cars.. :))

64km/h is not real life situation to me.

Is good they look into back end. But based on whiplash...not good testing analysis.

Ya these conti much more resistant to door knocks. Hahaha.

Has anyone managed to find the dark grey touch up paint pen/brush? I googled and found the code is 61k, but neither Giant nor Autobacs has it.

Can we interrupted the auto tailgate while it is opening? Does it have a sensor that retract the tailgate when the tailgate hit a wall or roof??

Can we use our hand to push and interrupt the auto tailgate while its in operation?

This is the silliest and most ignorant bs I ever heard, the kind that can get complacent people killed!

Jap or conti, you car is not a tank and equally vulnerable to car vs tree scenario.

In case you have short memory there's already a recent high profile case of a conti car crash into a tree where the driver and front passenger died.

No car is immuned to such impact..

I know that the focus has been on the driver fatality. The photo of that side shows it's the main impact on the stationary tree. The A pillar collapsed, probably hit his head. That's a really powerful impact into an immovable tree. Don't think any car would have saved him. What I focus on is the fact that the engine compartment and everything in it was also smashed in, but notice that the passenger compartment seems to have remained largely intact (except for the driver A pillar). I think it's amazing that his 5 passengers survived (note it's not 4). It is this fact that gives me comfort about the safety and design strength of the car. Even with this kind of damage, at least I imagine my loved ones will survive. Of course, drive safe.

Yes you can but it is not advisable. I tried before but the tail gate is not so sensitive. My friend tried the same and he heard a snapping sound from the rear spoiler. The best way is to press the tailgate button from the boot to stop it from opening further. I know sometimes it is quite difficult due to the space allowed. I know it cos I have tried.

Totally agreed. No point comparing which make is better or lousier. If you drive safely, you have done your part. Sometimes other driver drive recklessly and causes harm to other road user or passenger. So hard to say lah, it is fated.

Check the spoiler bro, the spoiler might be loose and out of alignment. the gap in between is now wider compare to new car. Can check from showroom car about the difference.

Thanks bro..will check tomorrow..
