Neutral Newbie

But what other parts that needs run-in too other than the engine? Anyway, I was close to 1k km when I attended the workshop so should prob have already run in the rest if the parts liao.

Your Brake pad and disc are new, need to let them sit in properly, your tires are also brand new, some may still have waxy residue at the side walls.

Better do a run-in for new cars. There is no harm. You won't know if the engine if it was not properly runned-in. The lack of power would not be evident unless you can compare this with a 'good' engine.

Drive the car around 2k - 3k rpm. Don't rev to hard. Gentle driving. Smooth gradual acceleration. Ensure the engine runs at the normal running temperature meaning avoid too many short journeys. Recommend to do this for at least 3000km. I had always run-in all my new cars even if the SE told me otherwise.

Hi all, once COE bidding is successful, how long did y'all have to wait before collecting the car?

Depends got stock or not... if existing then 1-2 weeks should be able to collect.

You won't know if the car is properly assembled.  It may fall apart when you drive.

Wow..thanks for the info..but if our car already run-in..why the need to put in mineral oil and change oil at 1km, 5km interval?

Who told you they put mineral oil during 1k and 5k servicing. My service sheet clearly print fully synthetic shell helix 5w30.

I had requested for 5w30.

The SA will always give all the rubbish excuse why you should not used 5w30.

Just insist what you want and they will follow.

I attended the owners workshop. The technical advisors said our FXT are already run in in factory. No need to run in for new car. A few of us at the workshop was like "what the....." as we tried to keep at low rpm for the past weeks. After the workshop, I happily zua the car on my way home. :-)

when was this owners workshop? R u informed by ur se?

Thanks all bros who feedback on their experiences on running in their cars. Seems like there is a mixed response to whether our cars had already been run-in or needed run-in by their owners.

I will check with the SA tomorrow and update all on motor-image response.

By the way, do we have a whatsapp chat group for forester? Any kind soul can add me??

I hate to add this, but after you get MI's response, you'll then have to decide for yourself whether or not you believe it. They've already proven themselves unsure about several things, and you sometimes get different answers from different people. If you're really keen on an answer from MI worth something, I suggest getting in touch with someone that ranks above your average SA.

MI contacted me by sms about a week after I collected my car. The sms is to invite owners to the workshop and revert if keen. Do attend if you are free. I find the 2 hours session useful and it was rather well organised. I have not heard of other Jap car brands that did this for their customers. I'm impressed.

Does the 2016 FL FXT come with the Blind Spot Warning and the Tyre Pressure Monitor System installed?

Is there a GPS navigation function on the factory HU?

Can the 360 degree all round view camera be installed?

What run in? My previous car was a test drive car, cold started driven hard put away wet, yet I drove it for over 200,000kms with nothing to suggest that the car had a rough early life.

But hey, it's your baby and your car but don't forget several people have driven your car before on and off the ship, to and from kitting out and final preps before delivering the car to you. Sorry to break it to you that way but she's no longer a virgin.
