Nope not really. With high overtrade the price difference is only around 10 to 20k. One of my fren just bought the GT. Meeting him over the weekends and hopefully can give some insight on the ride.

Have tried the GT..and for BMW..its BMW lor...haha. Ride was nice...and diesel.

Think the fit and finish of the FXT can be improved. 4 mths ownership and going for 5000km soon.

List now is :

1. Speaker grill on dash pop out

2. Steering a leeetel bit off

3. Wiper squeaky, judders.

4. Glove does not flush when closed

Can bros help me check if their glove compartment is also like that doesnt flush at the right side? Photo below

My glove box no such misalignment. Get MI to check during next servicing.

I have none of these after 1+ year.

The glove should be easily fixed.

What's with the steering?

Super squeeky could be due to windscreen, did you polish or pull some anti stain coat?

Worrying about FC may not mean stretched finances.. one is curious what's the FC could be doing in real term.. Nobody likes to pay more.. I also worry why FC sometimes so bad so just want to improve. Really hate to spend $500 a month on fuel but who does right?

You are not looking at the big picture. Haggling over the 5% saving in fuel when choosing a car is just like only looking at the dividend when investing in a stock. Penny wise pound fool.

Car steers a bit off to the right.

The right wiper bottom park judders, does so whether there is quik wax or not which is the only semi permanent thing I apply to the car.

Hope they can fix these rather irritating small issues, otherwise loving the car.

Once there is wax on the screen regardless of where you put and how much, your rubber's gone case liao.

Steering sound tricky, better had it checked with MI.

For XT, 98 will give higher HP. Using 95 the the ECU will reduce the power output.

Had been proven by some owners that did dyno before any tuning.

When do u guys need the full horespower from the car? It takes only 7sec or less to reach 100km/h when u step on it. You dont drive like that the whole way...

If u do full power all the time prob u wont drive the FXT for very long cos red n blue lights will soon be on you. Or the FXT will be totalled. Or worst some innocent roaduser will be hurt...

Of course we don't drive the FXT like this.

But the better low end torque will improve day to day drive. Plus the 98 petrol give me about 1km/L better FC. So with better butt feel performance and better FC, 98 is the petrol to use for me.

well. Power is always good to have on tap. It doesn't mean that we need to fully utilize every single HP inside the engine.

Occasionally you may feel like having some fun and revving the car. In that case, you will truly justify why FXT owners have spend the extra premium of 17-20k top-up over the NA version.

Each to its own, different reasons for different purposes. No right and no wrong.  [drivingcar]

there was Subaru Exiga 2.0GT as well...

too bad no longer brought in by MI, and even if they do, already became a 2.5NA like Legacy, so no fun...

the previous EXIGA was quite a weird shape i feel. But it was far less common on the road.

what I am trying to say is, is S# mode on RON95 still not powerful enough?

does the car even have good enuf tyres and brake combo to stop fast enough if situation calls for it?

we all know the Dueler HT is not good enuf at braking. so unless the tyres are upgraded, I seriously think S# RON95 sufficient already...

i think the stock tires given are quite bad.

The situation is made worse given the weird size of the profile. Have seen a couple of FXTs change to aftermarket rims (like TE 37, ROTA rims) in order to use regular tires (like PS3, F1A2, CSC5) with regular profiles.

At least such tires have better grip and road holding ability.

Back to topic, power is never enough.   [smash]

S# may not be the most comfortable mode to drive in. So ron98 on S mode may be more palatable to some.

Anyway, I do agree that if one intends to drive spiritedly, brakes and/or tyres should be upgraded for safety.

Heck, this applies even if you're moving like a turtle all the time! Reckless drivers are all around us. Just today, I had to jam brake to avoid ramming into the bum of a rogue taxi who dangerously swerved into my lane without any warning. I am so going to make sure that the taxi company takes action against this gangster so that he doesn't cause any more trouble for anyone on the roads.

Can we have more interesting discussion instead of FC? For goodness sake.. this is a Subaru forum.I am going to dislike anyone who continue on this topic.. -and anyway just for the record.. the FC of This gen of subarus fxt,Fna,legacy and OB.. 11-12km/ litre. Get it?!!

Personally i think FC discussion is ok, just don't be overly obsessive la, subaru forum or not. FC will always be one of the few characteristics of cars that folks will ask, especially those currently on the hunt and are new to the car. No reason to turn them away. [;)]

Maybe we could consolidate a FAQ post and refer folks to the post rather than we chastise people who ask.. lol  [laugh]

Talking about interesting discussion, Germany recently moved to ban internal combustion engines by 2030. In the not so far future, we will be chatting about km/kWh liao~
