On paper, the NA has better FC. Looking at the power to weight ratio and after test drive, my experience tells me the XT will have better FC for my driving style. (of course this is assuming XT is in I mode only. My CO forbid me to use S and S sharp unless necessary...)

 

I used to get 11-12km/L on my old mark x (2.5L V6), my old civic 1.8 only managed 12+km/L. Same right foot, same traffic, same driving style.

According to a Mechanic who has worked 30 years in MI n has won quite a few international Subaru Mechanic competition.. Sweet spot for Subaru

 

Pump 95 n drive in S mode.

90-120km/h below 3000rpm

Drive in I mode when in jams n slow traffic

I know there are differences in dimension, but why did you choose the Forester? What make you sign on the dotted line?

The upgraded leather is 4 years warranty according to warranty card. Best upgrade option ever. I got mine at $250 coz I nego with se and he paid half of it.

SE told me Duo Point = (Purchase Price) - (COE Price).

 

$1=1point. 

 

Let say your purchase price is $109,800 and COE is $50,000. 

 

$109,800-$50,000= $59,800 

 

$59,800 = 59,800 Duo Point. 

 

But I don't know how much point then can get a $100 voucher. 

On top of this, the DUO point will expire in two years, so all the bros here please redeem wisely.

Any way to check this steering wheel alignment at the showroom before driving off?

 

On the seat leather wrap, it is a common issue. A member of the Forester facebook group is gathering list of complaints and going to write to MI.

Driving for nine months and after 3 servicing, I would say that their after sales service are consider good. I have an issue with the steering wheel leather wrap during my second servicing at TPY and sound out to my SA thinking they can fix it by glueing it back which take maybe a few days but instead they change me a new steering wheel. That really make my day and mind you the steering wheel leather is Japan made original from factory not local fitted and they change it at no question asked. Compare to previous agent from a different make, this is really good service.

Personal opinion is big heavy car with 2.5 NA engine is a bit tiring to drive in our kind of stop-start traffic. It lacks the low end torque to catch up with traffic. I rather choose a smaller sedan or cross over with small engine.

 

The outback is good for long distance drive or road trips. 

Disagree that the Outback is tiring to drive. Its a lot more comfortable with better sound insulation and all round finishing. The 2.5l NA engine is more than enough power for Singapore roads. Not at all tiring and in fact, much better ride if you are not the type that like to step on accelerator.

Today I did my first servicing with mi.

Quite please with it.

They washed my dirty white car and vacuum inside.

 

Only setback is that I went in the morning and collect about 4-5pm. 1000km servicing.

Just wondering that I should book the earliest time slot that next servicing.

I think the late collection is a norm due to a lot of Subaru being sold. Heard from my SA that they see FXT and FNA until scared. LOL. I think all the bro here are also seeing a lot of FXT and FNA on the road.

Agreed. From an estimation over 10 yrs, the TCO for buying/maintaining a Forester vs Qashqai 1.2T could be around 20k.

As is usually the case, what counts as sufficient power depends on your expectations and benchmarks. The Outback is only about 30kg heavier than the current Legacy, and there are plenty of crossovers and SUVs that are substantially heavier. And, speaking as a 2016 Legacy owner (essentially an Outback sedan), the 2.5l NA flat four is plenty for Singapore. Linear power delivery means smooth commutes, which matters if you've got passengers. Decent low-end torque without having to exceed 3k rpm. Of course, if you're looking for sporty excitement most of the time, it's not that sort of powerplant.

Did not know that open sun roof help cool down faster. Since Forester had huge sun roof, must make full use of it.

I normally open the shade during the night of raining day.

My office is open car park. I park in the sun 8 hours a day usually I like to park not beneath a tree, so no shade. Drive out during lunch always very hot. But in all honesty the stock solar film isn't bad, plus the sun roof do help. Open it for 2 mins once u start engine and cools down straight away. Simple Sec sch geography.

I booked on 27May. Any bro here also booked on the same date? as SE said on 27May MI sold 20 Forester before I went down to suntec to made the deal.

I booked my FNA at end of Apr and got my COE first bid after I booked, which is $51010. My NG discount is only $1000, hence it should be 6 bid NG instead of 8 bid.But I think no difference between 6 and 8 bids NG, MI will firm your COE in first two bids.
