Undercarriage coating with anti-rust from Clasani has 2 impacts: 1) Make u $290 poorer, 2) makes your car about 10kg heavier.

I will changing to Michelin Latitude 235/50/18 next time, but i think the bridgestones will last pretty long...

After doing undercarridge and door sound proof, now i feel the road noise more, hiaz .. lol must be the bridgestones!

After doing more road noise? Confused.

235/50 R18, same overall diameter ?

7 inches rim width can fit 235? Hmm thought max is 225.

Forester OMV is low at abt $17K 2L engine for a 1500 kg car for $117k.

Comparing with competition

Omv abt $20K 1.5L engine for a 1200kg car for $112k.

I'm seriously tearing my brains and heart...always wanted a forester. But my brain always says no.

What's so difficult? Get the $20k omv 1.5L engine 1200kg car for $112k lor if the purpose is so logically good. Go go go.. Don't think so much

If don't like then sell and buy again.

I heard of people sell that car u described after 1 year and change to forester.

Hi all ,

Been reading this forum.

Currently driving Volvo S60 ,,looking for suv, have not own before, looking for something different.

Test drove the forester 2.0xt, Audi q3, BMW X1, qasqhai, xtrail....

Finally decided on forester, the Nissan xtrail a little breathless, q3 is very plain n bare bone, X1 is nice but drive is not as nice. Besides xtrail, q3 is 30+k more n X1 is $60k more, list price to list price compare, not worth that kind of dollar.

From drive and feature perspective, it's paying for the batch mostly, but finishing is much better in the German camp, especially x1, but not worth even taking that into consideration. Also looked at q5, n x3, both exiting model and 100+k more....

One more thing, Audi SE ask me to try the brand new a4, actually it's rather good, even the 1.4 is quite good,,finishing is much much better than q3, price same as q3, make the q3 look even worse, but not looking for sedan.

Forester, especially the xt is well equipped and finishing and built is not bad at all, not too shabby considering the huge price difference, with a more superior drive and power, the huge price difference gets even wider and make the premium German camp looks even more "poor proposition"

Anyway to each his own, that just my 2 cents.

So booked the xt, at $126800 after all so called discount

Non guarantee COE 8 bids

COE rebate is at $50000

Pearl white Color

Change leather to red, not Chilli red but a darker little brownish red

Added front and back camera.

Freebie, not much...gotten 3A matt and manage to get SE to throw in auto fold for door mirror.

Was told by SE, latest registered customer the OMV is $20555, due to stronger yen, not sure how true.

Just check with owners here, what's the average number of bids under non guarantee scheme to successful.

I am a little puzzle with latest COE for CAT B at $57500, an increase of $1500 the price no change, how this will impact success rate of COE bidding.....though been owning few cars over the years still rather confuse how this stupid COE works, hahahaha

You didn't test drive the Merc GLC ?

after doing undercarridge, less road noise but feel the wind noise more apparent. Then do doors, then wind noise reduce, then feel road noise more apparent. In short, sound proofing is an endless game lol. Noise cannot be totally eliminated.

got some bros here running 235/50/18 on stock fxt rims. overall diameter slightly off, very slightly only so should be ok.

I did try but not on the same day, still don't think it's worth that $100+ k diff, if I recall its $240+K or $230+k. Also the merc interior a bit too loud for my liking.

One Brother actually postulated that it's the Drivers ear drums that needs tuning..

I wonder if the lesson then is to do the cheaper $550 Clasani door soundproofing, rather than the more effective $680 3M door soundproofing you did

My take on the sound proofing is, before you do anything on sp, the sound coming in from everywhere. When you done undercoat you can distinctively hear sound coming from door, after you done door you can now differentiate the sound coming in from the gap in between door. Later you will find out it comes in from wheel arc and rear trunk. Lol

But, it depends on how much you want to eliminate them and just take it slow at a time. Drive it for a while and if you happens to meet another buddy with the same car and didn't do anything on sp, your satisfaction will be seen on your face.

I didn't spent a lot on sp, my material only cost my s$168. Done two layers on four doors only, drive it for while and see where else the sound coming in from then decide if I want to do that area or not.

For wind that comes in between door gap, I actually bought those rubber seal that seal or close the gaps quite good.

Oh, another thing is I thought if you want to change your tires to 235/50/18, you may need 18", 7.5jj.

I test drove GLC..too heavy..step on accelerator takes awhile to move off..slower than the cvt that we have..if need to choose GLC that price range and more towards having a fun car..go for macan, xc60,x3 or x5..

Else for 100k+ less..forester is a good choice..i got my COE 1st bid on NG 8bids..

Cannot lah...Sillypore cannot afford to change just like that lugi big time unless you have a VW lah...hahaha.

Besides this will also have higher insurance and rd tax and fuel consumption . So overall higher running cost.

Well won't mean much if 1 is comparing to luxury makes like bm and merc. But for 100k more who cannot make a good car right. But the japs have not been able to do their suspension like the European....dunno why.

Anyway the Forester is definately best baNg for buck in this category....more so if u compare with luxury makes. Save loads on depreciation.

Whack and be happy.

Hi WML888..not too sure how to reply you from your comment as i am a newbie here..

What i meant was that the start off from stop is slow to react when you step on the accelerator on GLC..dont know why but its like the car is on hibernating mode although the start/stop is switch off..but once the car gain speed, its quite a breeze..that might explain why GLC is around 7+ sec..

On FXT, when you step on the accelerator at stop to move..its reacts faster although not as fast as DSG or ZF gearbox..but its definitely not slow as GLC in moving off..thats my feel.. :)

The clasani is $580 only $100 cheaper. so i took the 3m lol. but the car is indeed quieter. Road noise hard to eliminate as roads conditions are bad these days. Ok i'll have to live with that.

i went to sit at my friend's 320 again, and its actually noiser...the road noise is quite unbearable actually...maybe coz its on 18 inch low profile sports tires and it sits much closer to the road.

My last ride is a BMW F10..its noisy i can tell you..i recently seat in my friend's FXT which he got 3 months ago..was impressed with the sound insulation..his FXT is stock with no add on insulation..although not lexus quiet..its quite good compare with the SUVs in its class..but again sound is very individual.. :) Edited by Legacygts
