Hi, anyone can recommend a head unit with perhaps apple carplay/ android auto?

Thanks!

Hi Noizer,

Go

- Aestmold at 23 Geylang Lorong 11 or - Awesome Car Acceasories at kaki bukit or

- someone here include you into forester group android headunit c/o ah meng

Prefers aestmod who visits their supplier for latest and greatest including warranty and local support for android version upgrade if available since there will be many like android phones until not supported for next 10 yrs of your car if it can last.

Cheers.

Richard

Heard from the SE in the motorshow that there is only one unit left for the old Forester on sale in their inventory. Silver in color.

After discount is about SGD93k.

Hi everbb,

Spray paint wun void warranty and hope you dun accept such argumentation even if MI guys tell you so .. speak to their supervisor or manager or ask for glenn.

Cheers.

Richard

Thanks Richard for your advise. Anyway the spray job was quite perfectly done, won't tell any difference. Thanks!

Any Subbie owners got good recommendation for paint protection? Just got the car past week hoping to protecr while its new

I did my repair and spray at Revol (AMK autopoint) and took up their package for Zetough ceramic coating x 4 times (4 years) + 12 free car wash and vacuum for $1688. Saw quite a no. of good reviews on the forum so decided to take up as the boss gave me significant discount for my repair work. Just collected on Sat, so far can't tell whether it's good or not as no raining so far. You may search around and decide.

Iâm wondering if anyone installed the android ATC head unit by aestmod, especially the lastest units.

https://m.facebook.com/aestmod/

How is the sound quality compared to stock FXT head unit?

Can use back stock harmon kardon amp and speakers?

Easy to use and any issue with iPhone?

Hi James,

Did not use aestmod's to compare SQ and my system removed the harmon kardon ... also not into iphone .. cannot advise much.

Did sat in qashqai with their older models and SQ is fine and iphone works.

Best to drop by shop and try it yourself with available demo units set up.

Cheers.

Richard

I am using pioneer z9150bt for CarPlay and music with aftermarket speakers and amplifiers. So far so good. I’m only interested in better sound and CarPlay. Video is secondary .

Imho, pioneer/Kenwood/alpine uses better sound components for music and more stable as it’s a proprietary software and hardware.

Unless you like to play around androids apps including trying to troubleshoot endlessly go for android HU.

Adv of android;

Maximize 9” display. Android HU for forester comes included faceplate/panel. Pioneer n others need buy separate faceplate for $180-$220....

Can use usb hub - multiple usb from one usb out.

Youtube, mirroring, apps.....etc

With apps u can use gps/maps directly on unit.

Can have sim 4g directly insert in unit(for some models) else need a dongle or hotspot.

Can also link tpms or other devices to android HU if comes with compatible apps.

Normally cheaper from $400 onwards with installation at $80-100. Installer who sells android HU usually pricier due to “warranty” given.

Many other good points etc....

Disadv;

Sound/music seems worst than stock HU unless using dsp/amp to tune. I did once just replace android HU with stock speaker and to pioneer HU . I hear the difference like heaven and earth.

I heard fm antenna reception not as good from a user.

Some models have built in CarPlay some need a CarPlay dongle from taobao about $60.

Constantly need to troubleshoot/upgrade in my opinion.

Some quality not reliable.

No CD player.

Unless android HU market with good sound chips or component I would avoid because of inconsistent quality.

Nice infor!

Was thinking of the pioneer 9150 and the alphine 702.

Does the pioneer work perfectly with all the stock functions? Such as the reverse camera, steering wheel controls? And for Apple carplay/ android auto, connection to phone is via a USB cable?

Just went for my 1k service, was told by the service guy that our in-car camera (Hella) can't connect to permanently on fuses like reading lamp due to battery draining and wiring burning issues (related to warranty). So camera will not work when electricity is cut, means parking mode is basically disabled. Just want to check with bros here is this the story for all subaru cars who installed in-car camera with them? Thanks!

Anyone know if fna and fxt spring and damper are the same size and specs? How come pink spring has the option of xt and na?

https://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f70/anyone-sti-pink-springs-284657/index8.html#post7489653

Check out the above thread. There are apparently 3 different versions of sti pinks: 1 for sti dampers, 1 for FXT stock dampers , 1 for FNA stock dampers

All HU will be able to work with steering control. Installer need to connect them proper only. For pioneer installer may have to include a device to step down 12v to 5v to use back Forester stock reverse camera. They may charge you $30 or $60 for it. Some installer may waive this charge depend on how you talk to them.

Installer might also sell you $18 connectors/cables (they cut and modify this cables instead of your original cables so in future you can connect back your stock Hu when u dekit)

Z9150bt have 2x USB (one for iPhone and other for android phone or usb stick) each usb can plug one item only. Buy the item below so u can extend on usb from Hu to link back your usb for arm console. But for FNA only.

They basically don't want the camera to be connected to battery. U can either just do it outside (risk electronics warranty) or u spend the money on a external battery pack. Not sure if hella has its own, but thinkware, blackvue and iroad have their own branded batteries. When engine is off, camera powered by the battery.

Think will just bear it for now, after one year then connect it to other fuse.
