Just saw in another thread Fong Kim is appointed the local dealer for Arma products. Got my curious about the Arma brand and went to the website.... and I found this:

https://www.armaspeed.com/product/subaru-forester-fa20-cold-carbon-intake/

Looks yummy. More options for those who are itching to modify their air intake

u can get Prova for cheaper

Richard, maybe this would be the ride quality solution  [;)]

Ohlins coilovers

Not really because it’s not a apple to apple comparison. Your link is only for air intake funnel while the grandma one is the full setup with cone filter, piping and MAF housing

You need to add this to complete the prova fantastic intake. The price also fantastic... lol

http://www.prova.co.jp/products/intake/ksg9b60000001m6h.html

Anyway, I don’t plan to mod my air intake. But if I got $ to burn, I would choose the prova setup

Hi Sarion,

I am not positive .. ohlins also not likely to give compliant ride since that more than just suspension system of springs and struts.

Ohlins is touted positively for chiongster .. only hope may be aftertmkt dynamic active suspension system that I do not know of any.

I may try to dekit all monkeys and add rear sti flexible stiffener to complete sti conversion except speedometer that is wip and tune up if accept warranty void instead of rigid stock ones.

Cheers.

No thanks, stock intake is the best for me. Like it quiet, good low end torque and good filtration of dirt.

Like i said, this is purely for sharing if other people are keen to mod.

What “monkeys” do you plan to dekit?

It may help you to get closer to the nirvana level of comfort which you aim for . Stiff chassis and suspension usually mean less comfort. Or you may just need to get a another car... LOL

Just to share, I recently added the Beatrush rear strut bar which makes a big improvement in how the car handles around corners. Can feel the rear wheels gripping the road better. But I found the car a bit bumpier when driving over uneven roads. Its like pumping higher tyre pressure and I can feel more road imperfections

Like I mentioned before, handling improvements usually come at a price. Just drove a stock FNA which feel more comfy but doesn’t handle as well around corners and not as stable at high speed. I don’t think it’s just the 17” tyres but also the shock absorbers (which are different) as well as other chassis/suspension components

Hi James,

Indeed better handling may need stiffening but hope not necessary so.

Since forester sti sjg version A was touted as one with much improved handling without some of stiffening monkeys, these are some considerations:

- your mentioned rear top beatrush strut

- rear and even front body dampers

- magic collars

- front cusco arb back to stock

Need to add rear sti flexible stiffeners though ... focus will be on problematic rear since front is ok.

Btw, cusco touring A dampers now at 9/9 front/rear .. softest ever.

But only thinking since thoughts are free .... keke !

Cheers.

I had Ohlins DFV on my ex car ( Swift Sport ) , it not only rides much better than stock, it handles better as well.

Trust me you get what you paid for , Ohlins DFV is famed for the way it can smoothen the road bumps.

It works the same way for FD2R as well though you may say FD2R’s stock suspension is very stiff lol lol

Hi Pitbull,

Thanks but I am not in your league and it is too ex to experiment further... I am into toyota type of compliant ride and not suzuki swift sport type that my younger bro still driving one nor appreciative of the superb controlled fd2r that my kaki had just scrapped which was a real deal bone shaker .. lol !

I sold the bilstein B6 and avoids coilovers ... hence chose the only adjustable cusco touring A ...you can probably gauge on how adverse I am against harshness of ride.

But that is only really me as I also know many kakis with peddars which is certainly not for me ...even rsr Ti springs also not for me liao despite a lot more stable than pink cos harder cos the abruptness on less than good road is not for me.

Cheers.

Btw, younger bro's swift sports on tanabe and cool speed sensitive dynamic damping force auto adjustment which make sense.

Soft settings when low speed and stiffen up to various speed intervals without driver's intervention but coilover again not for me.

Cheers.

oh yeah, didn't realize. but actually the airbox part more important cos tested for HP increase. initial intake for aesthetics only.

this one also interesting https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/51794

I do remember seeing one by Prova before with test data for HP increase, but can't find it recently...

well Ohlins was like holy grail during my Legacy days in the local scene, only fanatics/rich people go for it, cos at most people go for KW V2 or Hipermax...

think it really was the best balance for comfort and handling.

though someone then was on Motion Control Systems coilovers i think... 8k+ stuff  [:p] but alas never got to taxi in any of those rides...

but problem with coilovers is also lifetime at most 80-100k km if I remember rightly... then needs servicing which not many expertise locally

Looks yummy but I think this is for FNA. That’s why no top mount intercooler

Ya. I can vouch for ohlins on swift sport. Ss is quite light so most of the coilovers are too harsh for the little car. Ohlins are one of the rare coilovers that is made to suit swift sport.

Fd2r rear stock suspension is really hard. I dunno how people are using it as a family car to fetch ppl around.
