Just saw in another thread Fong Kim is appointed the local dealer for Arma products. Got my curious about the Arma brand and went to the website.... and I found this:

https://www.armaspeed.com/product/subaru-forester-fa20-cold-carbon-intake/

Looks yummy. More options for those who are itching to modify their air intake

I went to the website. Some things i dun agree with like increasing filter size for more flow. Bottle neck of flow is the size of the throttle body. What is more efficient is improving the air flow into the throttle body. Thats why ppl go for open pod or a more efficient air box.

Im not saying their product is no good just that i feel that their description is abit misleading.

Many talk abt suspension setup but non on tyres pressure??

I love grip cornering, washed out a little while attempting a corner at 140. This has never happened before..lucky was able to correct it else I would have slammed into the rail guard. Prior to it, has found my ride to be quite of soft.

Suspected tyres pressure, went back and check. Was only 2.5psi lower than what I normally pump but affected handling and comfort greatly.

Tyres was also slightly damaged. Can see that it has been folded over. Perhaps from force resulting from high speed grip cornering.

Any recommendation for car battery? Electrical stock cept for the car camera that mi installed. Asked around and quite a big difference between Bosch and amaron. Used mainly amaron but had once the batt failed within 2 years. So wanna check if Bosch is worth the premium. Tia.

I'm using made in Korea Bosch 70AH 560a CCA batt on my FXT. Costed $130 at wkshop in Kaki Bukit which imo is value for money. I believe Amaron at same AH would cost more.

Thanks. Was quoted bosch 70ah $200 while amaron pro 65ah @ S$160. In the end decide for amaron.

$200 is quite steep for Bosch 70ah when I could easily get it at around $130... :(

Anyway, amaron also good battery so just go with it. My Bosch is now 1yr 2 months and just checked its current state is at abt 90%. Should be able to last me for another 6 months.

On the contrary, bosch batteries were among the best I've used on my past few jap --> jap --> conti --> jap cars. Maybe a lemon ruined its reputation for ya?

Richard, suggest you doublecheck the bolts. If I recall, some underchassis bolts are single-use stretched bolts. If removed, should replace with new bolts but most workshops donât.

When I did it on my previous car (VW Jetta) at another workshop, the shop doublecheck the bolt tightness after a few months when I went for servicing.

It was a good handling mod for the VW Jetta as the chassis felt stiffer and cornering was more stable. But there was definitely more noise, vibration and harshness hence I decided not to do it for my FXT. Iâm surprised you like it since you are after comfort and quietness

PS

Just realized you changed your steering wheel. Looks gorgeous!!! Where did you get it? Thought u just wrapped the stock one at wheelskinz?

Hi James,

Just changed all front bushings after 43k km at you-know-who in woodlands but certainly not DM ... din even know this from estima after 10 yrs with 250k km .. lol ! Turning around bends at 100kmhr last weekend and twice steering rock n roll with wife asking whatnis happening .. straight road or <=90 kmhrs around bends ok one.

He advised no concern on subframe bolts and nuts after magic collars but double checked after I insisted and all fine.

Redid alignment of camber/toe at you-know-who at amk autopoint and camber now at rear at <=1.1 deg and front <=1.4 deg to match while toe both front and rear all is <=0.1 deg .. all good :)

Cheers.

Richard

Hi Strato,

Wants the better one if not the best ?

Varta AGM e39 70Ah especially if with ICE .. meant for hybrid with fast recharge and high output.

Cheapest is from old uncle shop opposite Serangoon swimming pool or carousell if diy but need mod a bit cos longer than stock.

Cheers.

changed to amaron 85D23L couple of months back, around $100 IIRC.

serangoon north ave tyre shop, so far so good.

like uncle richard mentioned before, subbie requirement for the battery not high, original on car was 55D23L, panasonic, lasted me over 3 years. does any ws carry panasonic?

brands i would pay a premium for: varta and maybe yuasa.

Richard, would you be so kind to share ur experience with DM? Been there once and is quite happy with the service. Was intending to have my vehicle serviced by them after 60k.

Hi Foo,

Unfortunately, I was only been there with previous qashqai group for some MO and not with my forester and cannot advise. Suffice to say that I am not a supporter of house brands ..

I am very happy with bks woodlands 2nd time albeit costing me sgd34 taxi fare this morning to get back to office cos I wanted the best.

I did not even go to MI for warranty claim even Ah Keong advised me likely bushing failed.. the effect of rocking steering and car getting out of control is scary with safety consideration.

I had all changed out before other fail as MI will likely on change affected one(s) and it needs to be realigned and it was back to Kenny at amk autopoint.

Cheers.

Richard
