Cheeky 1st Gear October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 ADs for contis are bringing in models to stay in CAT A ... 116i, A180, B180, CLA180 GLA 180, A3 etc. Our scholars at LTA are making a big fool out of themselves, instead of making CAT A cheaper for B&B cars, prices of CAT A are getting nearer to CAT B. Our scholars are no fools. They don't buy CAT A, they buy CAT B.
Civic6228 6th Gear October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 (edited) are you sure the scholars are making a fool of themselves or purposely do it this way. i dont think they are stupid but rather they are finding excuse and delay in bring the price down. the final laugh is still them now...so are we the stupid one in front of them ..? hmmmm I recall very clearly that one of the intention for the change to CAT A for cars below 130 bhp is to make CAT A cheaper for B&B cars and to flush out some of the contis. In my opinion, the scholars at LTA are making a fool of themselves. But they will give themselves a pat on their shoulder for a job well done to generate more income for the gahment. Cocked it up with the euro4 for diesels and caused shortage of vehicles for sale here and cause COE to plunge to $1. and now cock it up again with this stupid 130bhp crap. waste my tax payers dollars to buy at least 1 dnyo machine too.

What's wrong with the system? It's supposed to Make cars expensive n they have succeeded. Those marginal buyers dun even have to think about new or used cars anymore. In my opinion, the scholars at LTA are making a fool of themselves. But they will give themselves a pat on their shoulder for a job well done to generate more income for the gahment. They did a good job and the policy was sound. Just that, businessmen react faster than policy makers and start to bring in lower powered contis to squeeze into Cat A. As of now, policy makers have yet to respond to this trend that has been going on for quite some time.
Ucypmas 1st Gear October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 (edited) Quota did not increase further this round for Nov-15 to Jan-16. Actual deregistration is still stable about 70k p.a. Those who monitor vehicle age, will see renewals running about 700-1k monthly and will go up further. This will absorb at least about 12k of quota annually. The renewals are already doing LTA's job in "holding back" COE, I think those who are looking for annual quota of 100k, are living in dreamland. If you want COE to crash, pray for an economic crisis instead. Edited October 21, 2015 by Ucypmas

SuperCallum 1st Gear October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 I think the conti are reducing their car CCs and hp to CAT A category and thus, the gap for Cat A and B is closing up.
