I've bought a few premium cars from ADs. Sales experience was good. But it somehow never reached the point where I felt the urge to register a new nick just to praise them in a public forum. C&C Merc, Wearnes Volvo and Premium Auto certainly hv something to learn from our PIs....

No offence hor. I bought my 7-series in 2008 from Performance Motors and RX 300 from Borneo motors.

For the ridiculous premium they charge me, where I am actually giving the AD one free car for every car I buy, I would expect the service to be top notch.

FYI, for premium brands including Volvo, the AD's profit for each car is higher than the cost price (OMV) for the car.

Instead of good service, they continue to rob me blind for the regular maintenances at their workshop.

Buying from PI's are okay if people manage and set their expectations accordingly.

With razor thin margin of $5k to $7k for an average Japanese car, receiving a car as promised by the PI is as good as it gets!!

Don't expect golfing events, advance driving courses, social events, etc .... as per those organised by Lexus, BMW, etc. THese guys make a profit margin of between $40k to $100k per car they sell.

Also buying from PI, no matter how reputable, dont place your hopes on them honouring any warranty.

The cash savings from the purchase from a PI should be more than sufficient to cover any repairs should it happen within the first 100,000km

Wow....the sales experience must have been really sensational to prompt so many newbies to suddenly post their happiness in MCF

Brother, sister, some of us like myself are real genuine newbies and real genuine satisfied customers. I haven't made any comments before because I just got a new car and wanted to share the experience. Don't anyhow dislike my comment leh. But anyway you dislike also nvm la don't affect me. I joined this forum cos thought got other prius owners can talk to. Just wanted to let other potential newbies know about my experience that's all. Don't mean to say that pi means absolutely no problems. Life not so straightforward la. I think some of you veterans die die also go with authorized dealer and like the experience of their luxurious showrooms can continue to do so. But some others would like to save some money and visit the unglamorous pi offices, and have minimal frills for the car, so to each its own.

There are PIs and there are PI with extraordinary prowess to have their customers come to car forum register new account just to sing praises like no tomorrow.

Just like some car paint coating services.....

Congrats on your new Prius! Can show some photos and introduce more on the car? How much did you get it for?

I was looking to buy a new car last few months as my car is reaching 10 years in Dec 2017. As I am retired i need a cheap and economical car. Of course one option was PI. I have bought about 10 new cars in my life for myself and wife and have always bought from agents. So I was a bit sceptical about PI after reading the posts here.

Nevertheless I decided to take the plunge buying from SPL a Vezel Hybrid on 30 th August 2017. I did my evaluation on SPL and Vezel before deciding. I collected my car on 19th Oct as I was not in a hurry since my car still have till Dec 2017 to decommission. There are few things I leaned from buying from PI. I just sent my car for 1000km free servicing and I saw the warranty terms for the first time. I noticed there are some items like the car entertainment system which are not included under warranty. This was a surprise. Also Japanese user handbook which I am aware from the posts. I have never really review warranty terms from agents.

The workshop, JKS , providing the warranty and service looks well organized and professional. They also offer extended warranty options at reasonable price so I bought extra warranty to cover up to 10 years since I was worried about the high voltage battery price rumoured to be in the thousands of dollars. The option was about $400+. I am aware of the risk that the workshop may not be around in 10 years but I took it anyway.

All in all I am quite pleased with the purchase and the car although I have a few minor grievances. The sales rep, "O........." at Sin Ming Drive was helpful and kept her words.

If you want to buy from PI, you need to do more homework and they will not volunteer information unlike the agents.

im the lao jiao u mentioned. i visited spl but didnt buy frm them ended up at komoco paying full cash.

cos they require me to pay them in cash n wait for the trade in of my old vehicle cheque to be cleared. i. e. i pay 110k cash and 72k payable to me is pending via cheque... too high risk for me

Can I be considered laojiao? I've been here for more than a decade. 13 years to be exact.

Bought a Shuttle Hybrid full cash from SPL. Had to pay an additional $2K levy for full cash deal. Cashier's order direct to LTA. Remainder cheque to SPL after registration. Warranty by JKS. Decent workshop. Not the kind of workshop I will go to, but it is alright. So far 3 months clocked 48,000kms. No typo here. 48,000kms. Everyone at home flogs this work horse. No trouble at the workshop. Going for 5th service with JKS next week.

My brand new car had a small ding. They offered to respray. But it's fine to me. A car is just a work horse to me.
