NTP 1st Gear August 2, 2016 Share August 2, 2016 This car looks great!! Just dunno if the reliability (got GB problem like VW?), FC and maintenance cost.... Can anybody (if best is owner of latest astra) advise me? I chose Astra over Golf because the GB is not a DSG, cheaper with a 5 year warranty and 5 year servicing capped at $800 max. And it's Europe Car of the year 2016. ↡ Advertisement

Can anybody (if best is owner of latest astra) advise me? Gearbox comes with 5 years unlimited mileage warranty Fc really depends on right foot, average takes 5km or so from paper will be a good benchmark Maintenance for 1st 100k km is $800 I'm not a Astra owner, just a Astra SE!!! Feel free to come for a test drive with me :) Does anyone find the Brake Pedal is a bit too high/steep? Not so smooth when switching from accelerator (gas pedal) to brake especially for ladies (having smaller foot size). Is the Brake Pedal height adjustable? Actually every car have a different character and ultimately after awhile, u will just adapt to it automatically actually :)

No_worries 6th Gear August 3, 2016 Share August 3, 2016 Was walking along Hill Street this afternoon to my car around 545pm and saw a clean silver SLE plate new Astra. The back tail lamp sure looks like the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Very nice and elegant. =)
Cheesecake006 2nd Gear August 6, 2016 Share August 6, 2016 (edited) I tested the 1.4T engine is smooth and drivable. BIt I am torn between Astra 1.4T and a Mazda 3. NOT sure which 1 to pick. If you have a 2nd chance to make your choice between these 2, what would be your take and why? Pls share. Thank you. Juniorlks Clutched August 6, 2016 Share August 6, 2016 Confirm 1.4t astra is better than a mazda 3 . If you want to compare you can go test drive 1.0t astra and it will feel different. Astra provide 3 year free servicing and 4th and 5 year is 800 dollar. If you compare after service, mazda servicing is more expensive than opel. Cause I am currently driving a mazda 3 user and awaiting for my astra coming soon. So overall you can count overall see which want worth it. Opel got another problem after 5 year spare part dunno will be common anot. So let hope he becoming popular first than sure got alot of spare part.

Thank you.For $114,88, u get unlimited milleage warr, 1st 100k servicing @ $800, latest technology, plenty of safety gadgets, 5* safety rating. Need we say more? :) It is for sure the most value for dollar car in the whole market. The thing for Conti is that the drive feel really makes a world of difference. The stability, handling is really different fr Asia makes. I'm not saying this becos I'm an Opel SE, but Conti really stands out fr Asia makes. When u drive it, I'm sure u feel the difference urself, don't u? :) By the way I'll be in showroom today!! Do look for me if u requires any assistance :)

Apple CarPlay as well :) After owning Astra 1.4T for the past few days, no regret.

Leijasper 1st Gear August 6, 2016 Share August 6, 2016 There is conti and there is conti lah. French contis are notorious for their UNreliable electrical/electronics ... and lately, even their electric power steering and DC transmissions! ð ðð¼ Ford also sama sama hor, only slightly better than the French in terms of overall reliability. ðð¼ ð© VW for their 'famous' DSG transmission, mechatronic clutch pack and many cracked pistons! That really sucksð« ðð¼ The current BMW F-series sedans with bad road and wind noise intrusions and engine problems. Put Valvetronic and turbocharging together in an engine and you'll end up with a witches' cauldron! :ððð¼ Also the co-developed Prince engine of the previous MINI range, owned by BMW. ðð¼ ð° There isn't a perfect car bro!! Everyone got different level of expectations, if the + point acceptance level is higher den the - point, isn't that good enough? Will be curious at what are ur choices of the 4 cars u owned?

I suspect Mazda auto box is much better drive than Astra which properly is an Aisin 6sp. Not that Aisin produces lousy gearbox but it is not as intelligent as the Mazda self-developed auto for a 6speeder. Mazda 3 is equipped with rear multi-link suspension while astra offers compound link(should be torsion beam) as standard. Handling and comfort wise, you tell me which is better??? Usually slightly more premium conti will spec it with rear multi-link, but VW offers it as standard for almost all their model except entry polo/golf 1.2. The only critical spec lose out is GM's new ecotec engine which is more powerful than NA engine. Must say Opel produces great car, so does Mazda.
