Test drove the 1.0T version, overall quite like the car but it lacks some features which is holding me back

1) Headlight is not LED, still the old halogen lights.

2) The driver information display is still the old single colour display, not the LCD multi coloured display screen

3) The rear antenna is sticking out like dog's balls, no shark-fin type antenna.

Otherwise, the car is great overall!

Does anyone knows if theres option to add on those features above?

Thanks!

Actually all 3 items are very minor for me. More importantly is the engine performance of the 1.0 litre and ride comfort. I have seen the car on display but have not tested.

I'm driving the 1.0L Tourer for almost 1 month and very happy with the performance so far. Ride comfort is good and glad to have many additional feature. 1st to 2nd gear change a little lack if you go full throttle. Else, quite smooth for normal ride.

Care to describe more abt the lag from 1st to 2nd gear? Read something abt this too on the sgcarmart review... Why is this happening on the 1L turbo version? Is it a major issue?

Like a manual... If leg hand slow, first gear to second gear you too slow... not soon...

1.0L is using AMT = automated manual transmission.

Meant to operate manually.

But, if need to operate manually, why need ATM? Must well drive a real manual, less problem, better coordination.

Personal understanding, the 1.0L is a manual transmission car and fitted with the "Easytronic" transmission. Thus made the 1.0L become Automated Manual transmission. The easytronic will shift gear automatically during driving. And you can select either "manual" or "auto" mode which I always drive with "auto" and only change to manual when driving up the multi story car park.

The lag is not a major issue (at least to me) because if you don't like the feeling, drive with manual mode and you don't feel it. If you select "auto" and pick up smoothly, you only feel a little lag compare to other CCVT transmission that you don't feel the gear shift at all.

Is it the same automatic manual transmission found in Citroen / Peugeot diesel cars? The pause and change gear feeling?

Yeah the pause and change gear feeling. Like an auto car lo.

Auto car don't have that feeling leh. At least the change do not have the "long" pause. Very apparent in Citroen/Peugeot petrol auto vs diesel semi auto

Sry i meant manual car. It is nt as smooth as the 1.4t when driving it. Probably due the fact that its a 3 cylinder engine.

Quite engaging to drive if you drive it like a manual.

Yeah, that's what I found out too :(

All that 'German Engineering' and 'Designed in Germany' captions are just marketing ploys, to somehow include the 'Germany' word for a German-branded car, but made somewhere in the former Eastern Block :D

Old memories of the laughable Lada and Skoda brands come to mind ... :D

German engineering is not the same as German manufacturing. Just because a Samsung phone is made in China doesn't mean it wasn't engineered by Korea.

Hi,

I've owned 4 Opel cars.

Astra G 1.4 manual, 1999-2003

Corsa C Easytronic MTA 1st gen, 2003-2004

Astra G 1.4 manual, 2004-2008

Vectra C 1.8 Easytronic MTA 2nd gen, 2008-2015

A French make, 2015-present

Over the past 3 months, I've test driven 3 conti brands, including Opel (Astra K 1.0 Sports Tourer and Hatch). I was very surprised that the new Easytronic 3.0 is very smooth, and the 999cc engine is torquey enough to drive the Astra K.

I negotiated with the 3 conti dealers until the stage of just waiting for my signature.

Eventually, I signed on the dotted line for my 5th Opel, which is the Astra K 1.0 Hatch on last Sunday.

Note: Because the Astra K 1.0 Hatch's OMV is $19k+ and CEVS rebate is $15k, the minimum ARF stipulated by LTA is $5,000. Hence the PARF is $2,500.

For the price of the Astra K 1.0 Hatch, one gets the specs which are higher than many conti brands. Features such as Opel Eye (including Lane Assist, front collision warning), anti-theft, immobiliser, rear camera, 17" rims, more refined interior, less noisy, etc. Throw in the freebies and one can easily estimate the profit margin by the AD, which is probably lower than most of the other car makes in the market.

There're private workshops that service and repair Opel cars, and a few have the Tech device to check for fault codes. We in the Singapore Opel Owners Group (SOOG) know where to go to after warranty expires.

By the way, the SOOG's FB page is at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/19976313404/

We used to print SOOG windscreen car decal. The black logo in the SOOG's FB page is the windscreen car decal. It was designed by a former member and there were 2 colour schemes, and we voted for the black one. The logo doesn't even state "Opel" because we believe intelligent drivers will know what the circle and lightning stand for. :-)

Cheers.

@Newbie70

Congrats on your purchase. Brilliant Choice. The Astra 1.0 is so refined, it does not sound and feel like a 3 cylinder.

Your SE from Opel is Lily, right?

I think I met you at the Opel showroom on Sunday.

Yes.

Eh. I don't anyhow trust specs on the website. For the previous models, it wasn't accurate. They just anyhow advertise features the model can offer globally but not actually installed on local units.

But if you confirm saw it installed on your showroom car and final delivered unit, then by all means, I am very impressed! Great to see this feature reaching the 'budget' range!

Not only saw the features, but also experienced them during test drive (Lane Assist, safety distance sensors).
