SEAT Arona

My SE Versase was pretty ok, frank and open, also could put my choice in perspective (I had hesitation with the Seat brand and thot I’d go with VW or Audi with the same engine and transmission).

My choice of the Arona was easy as I don’t have to carry more than 4 pax in the car. If I was regularly carrying 5, I’d go with the Ateca or perhaps choose from a whole spectrum of cars at the price range of up to $135k. The Arona meets my space needs first and foremost, then looking at the running costs, the performance and overall value for money, I’d say the car stands head and shoulders above the competition. If you don’t need the size of the Ateca, the Arona is way more sensible.

Right now am in the US and driving a Pacifica - I miss my agile Arona! But in the US, I’m sure such a small car would be blown aside by all the speeding huge SUVs, pick-ups and trucks! Oh yeah first time I encountered issues with Apple CarPlay - apparently it affects FCA cars - so glad the Arona’s one works beautifully!

Oh yeah the pacifica’s Stop-start seems to work very well! Then again this car has a V6.

Manage to join a friend who test drive the Arona.. good feel for a 1.0T

Anybody can recommend any friendly & good SE lobang (didnt quite like my friend's one).

Am looking to test drive the ALteca, though at the price range Arona exceeds in the price, more features.. but the space is a tad downgrade from my current ride.

@Maomao82 - Honestly, I don't have much good experiences with Vertex's SEs (My SE wasn't even there for the delivery and cannot explain the delays, in the end I have to email SEAT International Customer Care to get some TLC) - PM me if you want the name

But what you can ask for is probably:

1. Extended Warranty to 5 years -- you could bargain to 1/3 of the price and 'add' it to the final price and get loan for it.

2. The i/r now seems to be 1.98% -- lowest was 1.88%, do check with them

3. Car detailing glossing protection treatment (I regretfully didn't ask them for it)

Btw, the cam they included is pretty good - HELLA DR820.

Just hopped into my Arona after three weeks (during which it sat in an open air car park) and started at the first prod of the button. The car clunked into movement from Park, and took about 3-4km for the brakes to settle (rust on the disc already). Filled up with my regular 95 octane, runs as smoothly and fiestily as ever.

After the smooth roads of the US, the ride of the Arona seems ‘explosive’ - I don’t blame the car, I blame the poor standards that the LTA allow the road-surfacing contractors to get away with! My friend’s new Harrier (tuned with a soft suspension for a smoother ride) heaves and groans over most roads too, dips and bumps throwing the weight of the car all about. The only cars I’ve seen to be able to handle the roads are the ones with advanced air suspension and control - hope this tech will dribble down to smaller cars soon!

Hi mynameisjon - if you’re talking just about entertainment (the sound system) the Chinese titles in my iPhone playlist are displayed nicely on the screen in Apple CarPlay. I’m not familiar with iPhone in other than English language, but I’ll be surprised if they don’t have it in asian languages since they have them in most Europeans languages, which should then work nicely with Apple CarPlay and be able to be played back on the arona’s screen.

When I'm using my iphone as the source for music, Korean Characters aren't displayed properly, they show up as squares.

Makes sense because when selecting languages, only roman alphabet based languages are able to be selected.

You haven't been to certain states which neglected their highways or country roads. I have went on roads that were much poorer condition than in singapore Edited by Ceecookie

Hi, Ceecookie. Yes of course for such a big country I’m sure there are loads of neglected roads, especially those areas constantly threatened by climate such as in the north east. I was in Wyoming, Colorado, the Dakotas last year, and the roads are generally just as good as my recent trip to Florida, S Carolina and Georgia. The point is, for such a city state like ours, there’s hardly any smoothly surfaced roads (I can only name MCE) and we ain’t poor, so I don’t understand why we can’t do better!

We have been moving backwards since the incumbent took over.

Anyone experienced any delays in delivery?

Secured yesterday’s COE, but SE say may need two more weeks. Despite having the car in stock and decided to forgo the “freebies” such as leather seat, solar film and camera..

Are you buying warehouse stock? Apparently mine was promised Xmas can deliver after securing Wed COE, think my SE worked doublely hard..

But think on other hand, do you rather they rush out for you , but end up having defects/issues which u cannot accept?

my 2c worth

Mine was delayed too, 8 Nov secured COE, but car only ready for collection at 8 Dec after some feedback made via International Customer Care.

Same like yours, my car was from the ready stock. But they kept saying “It is stuck at the warehouse”. Even their manager wasn’t able to properly explain why the delays in the warehouse.

The parent company is an Egg Supplier and the last car brand was Chery, so maybe not sure to higher car sales volume. But I’m sure they are improving everyday

Parked my car at a car park at bishan and as I was heading back to it, saw a man walking round my car. Turned out he drove a Jazz parked next to my car, and asked a few questions about it - he really liked the design. He didn’t even know the Seat brand. Looks like Seat needs to advertise a bit more!

Vertex needs to buck up.

Skoda is doing well despite re-entering the market later than SEAT.
