NewArona 1st Gear January 25, 2019 Share January 25, 2019 (edited) Hey guys, Pleased to say that I received my new Arona yesterday and I'm very happy with it! Getting coating done on Saturday and will post pictures. Everything is so slick...from apple play to the maps to the touch screen! Can't wait to take a long drive into Malaysia! Did you guys go slow for the first 1500km? I'm struggling with not pushing the car to the limit! Izzit anything like this? Why are you driving with the plastic cover still on! Keepmoving 1st Gear January 25, 2019 Share January 25, 2019 Hi NewArona, welcome to the family of happy Arona owners! Yes, pls do run-in the car - I think the manual says to drive carefully for the first 1000km, try not to rev above 3000rpm. I know, it’s really hard to not give the accelerator a squeeze cos it’s just such a joy, haha! Also, as I’ve noticed that there’s a slight hesitation in the transmission in first gear, I always let the car creep forward first before I step on the accelerator, it makes for a smoother drive. Oh yeah, I’m using 95 octane petrol and it works fine (used to pump premium for my last four cars, all naturally aspirated 6-cylinder engines). I’ve just crossed 8k km mark (which everyone tells me is low for a 9-month old car) and taken it up to Penang once and Genting 3 times, and am happy to report that the car runs as sweetly as day one. I have no complaints except the last week I’ve had a little issue with Apple CarPlay being sensitive to the wire (which is probably becos I’m not using an Apple cable). It’s my 10th car, and I’m just so surprised that this car is leaving me such a deep impression! Happy motoring!

Keepmoving 1st Gear January 29, 2019 Share January 29, 2019 Will pass on participating in the Facebook group, thanks. Shouldn’t have much to say since I’ll be traveling quite a bit for the next 6 months. Pretty sure I’ll hit the anniversary of the car with less than 10k km. I don’t expect any problems from the Arona - just sat in a friend’s newer Forester and it had an intermittent uneven idle, doesn’t say very much about Subaru quality especially since the 2-litre engine has been around for ages! Happy motoring everyone!
Benji7 Clutched February 15, 2019 Share February 15, 2019 Just discover our car's ACC can “recover” even around 5kmh and can be set at as low as 30kmh --- perfect for slow-but-moving traffic! Awesome!!! Btw, did anyone join https://www.aronaforums.co.uk/?
gamer2030 Clutched February 17, 2019 Share February 17, 2019 Hi, I’m a new user and stumbled across this forum. Got my Arona Style last year start of June. Have clocked up about 10400 kms now. Does anyone have a rattling sound coming from the back when going over slightly rough or uneven road? Not too sure where it’s coming from but definitely from the back. Have read forums internationally about similar issues most attributed to the door latches etc.
Keepmoving 1st Gear February 18, 2019 Share February 18, 2019 Hi gamer2030. I’ve had my Arona FR from May last year and done about 8.5k km (a lot of it covered on indifferent roads in M’sia) - no issue of untoward rattling or squeaking noise from anywhere. Then again I seldom have rear passengers and my infrequent use also means I don’t open the rear doors or hatchback often.
gamer2030 Clutched February 21, 2019 Share February 21, 2019 Oh just an update. Rattling sound was a loose rear number plate. Sorted now no more sound.

Keepmoving 1st Gear March 19, 2019 Share March 19, 2019 Hi! Been reading about carbon buildup on VW direct injection engines. Don’t think anyone has done huge mileage on their Arona yet, but am wondering if anyone experienced any trouble with their engine? I’m not even above 9k km yet, engine seems to be doing fine and all. I’ve noticed a slight whine from the front axle when I start off but it’s on and off so I can’t nail it down. Looks like I’ll have to schedule another long drive north soon to make sure the soot doesn’t build up. Also time to get a top grade tank of fuel to help clean the combustion chambers. Anyone practicing these and other ways to minimize the issues with direct injection?

Dual clutch gearbox simulate auto car creeping forward by half clutching the gearbox. Excessive usage of half clutch will increase the wear and tear of the clutch. By remaining stationary at junction, the clutch is depressed fully.

Keepmoving 1st Gear March 21, 2019 Share March 21, 2019 Thanks for the info, Ceecookie and Kodiaqer! The Arona is my first dual-clutch transmission and also my first turbo direct-injection engine - it all works well, I like the drive and it’s been more than adequate and economical and I love paying so little road tax. Am hoping I get good reliability from it too (maybe asking too much!). I’ll be reporting anything untoward I encounter - am planning another long drive to Malaysia in July to stretch the car’s legs and hope to hit 12k km by then. ↡ Advertisement
