steveting99 2nd Gear September 16 Share September 16 (edited) In October 2023, Stellantis took at 20% stake in Leapmotor China by injecting EUR 1.5 billion and forming a partnership to sell vehicles outside of China. Mainly because Stellantis was doing a lousy job themselves. The first Leapmotor model to go international is the C10 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Leapmotor makes value for money rides and the C10 is no exception. It's a B&B focused mid-size (C-segment) electric SUV with an roomy and spacious interior (almost feels like D-segment). It comes with high standard equipment levels and tech. Check out the lidar on the roof. Europe was the first market to get the C10 and it became available in September 2024, together with the small hatchback T03. Closer to home, the C10 became available over the causeway in October 2024. In Malaysia, Stellantis and Leapmotor have signed a deal to assemble Leapmotor vehicles at Stellantis plant in Gurun, Kedah from the end of 2025. Which means it'll be coming to Singapore and the rest of the ASEAN markets in 2026. Kerb weight : 1,940 kg The exterior dimensions of the C10 are a good size and practical. This is a family friendly ride. Powertrain for the Leapmotor C10 is a single rear-axle motor (RWD!) that outputs 160kW and 320 Nm of torque. This is good enough to do the century sprint in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. If imported directly from Malaysia into Singapore, it'll be a Cat B ride. Hoping to see a de-tuned 110kW version to follow soon after - just like what Tesla did on the Model Y, BYD did for the Sealion 7, SAIC did on the MG S5EV and Chery did on the Omoda E5 / Jaecoo J6. The current 2025 model year has a 11kW AC onboard charger with a weak DC charging rate of 84kW to recharge its 69.9 kWh LFP (by CALB) battery from 30-80% in 30 minutes. C10's range is 424 km (WLTP). The interior like most China designed and made is bare bones. Inspired by Tesla, there are no physical buttons (boo-hooh!) to adjust for AC temperature and fan controls. Everything as to go through the large 14.6" infotainment screen - which is at least snappy and high resolution. Navigating it will get some getting used to and Leapmotor has some ways to go to improve the user interface. Infotainment on the Leapmotor C10 includes a 10.25" instrument panel displaying at 1920 x 720 resolution, along with a 14.6", high-definition central display offering 2560 x 1440 resolution. For audio, an 840W, 12-speaker system provides the music in surround sound. The deal breaker for most is the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto due to the current Leap 3.0 platform. The C10 will require the next generation Leap 3.5 platform to have CarPlay and Android Auto. An NFC card provides access to the vehicle, unlocking is accomplished by tapping it on the top part of the driver’s side mirror. Additionally, the card has to be placed on the center console for the vehicle to be started. There's been reviewer complaints on this arrangement and the lack of mobile app support for locking/unlocking the ride. The ADAS system is quite poor with lots of bings and bongs to annoy one senseless. The generous exterior dimensions are carried over internally with a high efficiency layout. The interior is made of Leapmotor's Oeko-Tex silicone textile (i.e. fake leather) that's meant to be quite plush and supportive. It's also liquid resistant and baby friendly - so it's easy to clean. Can see this would appeal to those with young families. Back seats can easily accommodate two child seats with room in the middle for a small to medium adult. Rear seat dimensions are also quite generous - close to limousine size. The C10 comes with the obligatory panoramic sun roof and unlike some (looking at you Tesla) has a motorized sunshade to keep the hot Singapore sun out of the cabin. And the front seats can be folded flat - all due to the generous leg room at the back. At the boot is 435L of cargo space available with the rear seats in place, or up to 1,410L with the seats folded. In front, the frunk adds a further 32L of luggage capacity. Expecting Cycle and Carriage (C&C) to be the Authorized Dealer (AD) for Stallentis and will try to flog off the C10 here in Singapore. Will see what C&C price the upcoming C10 to be - hopefully not long to wait. Should be okay here in Singapore.

Our market so small. Yet new comers keep trying to squeeze in. They sell in Singapore they can earn 3-5 times compared to neighboring market. it is easier to try out in SG market than in other markets due to our govt initiative. We have world class port, we have SEZ to park car, We have a govt that very Seow-on in EV the whole car population, everyday got new charger popping up what is not to like about setting company to sell car in Singapore? The ppl in Singapore also positively resistance to economic downturn one. If you say chagee is $7 a cup, we will buy. If you say a bowl of ramen is $20, we will buy. If you say a car is $170K, we will still buy. If you say HDB is 1.5 mil, we will also buy ah! We are living in a bubble that is well protected. Hahaha. steveting99 2nd Gear September 16 Author Share September 16 (edited) Sales of C10 in 2025 from Autonews gasgoo is here: https://autonews.gasgoo.com/sales/article/77844.html Up to August 2025, there's been 93,012 C10 units sold so far - with another four months to go before end of the year. This compares to "just" 74,971 C10 units sold in 2024. Think Leapmotor is onto a winner here. Edited September 16 by steveting99
steveting99 2nd Gear September 17 Author Share September 17 Review and driving experience on the Leapmotor C10 over the causeway by Bobby Ang here: User interface needs some work by Leapmotor and driving experience confirms it's a city car for family duties. A BEV price war over the causeway has forced Stellantis to reduce the price of the C10 by at least 21% from RM159k down to RM125k. steveting99 2nd Gear September 19 Author Share September 19 Stellantis via Leapmotor International offers an Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) of the C10 in Right Hand Drive (RHD) version. There's a four cylinder 1.5L petrol engine that sits under the bonnet at the front and re-charges the 28.4kWh high voltage battery – less than half the capacity of the C10 EV’s 69.9kWh energy storage unit. So the 32L front trunk is gone and in it's place is a petrol engine. Together with the 50L fuel tank, claimed combined range when battery is fully charged and with a full tank is 975 under WLTP cycle. The electric only range is 145km. Claimed fuel consumption is 0.9L/100km, but real life will be much higher - with one reviewer's reporting 9.2L/100km! That's 10x more than what Leapmotor's claim. Traditional hybrids will easily beat C10 REEV. Competition from other PHEV's such as BYD (Sealion 6 DM-i) or Jaecoo J7 does a much better job in the fuel consumption figures. The 1.5L engine does not drive the wheels. It's sole job is to re-charge the battery. Similar to Nissan's e-Power setup in which the petrol engine works in series hybrid mode. There are four driving modes to select from. EV+ EV Fuel Power Each mode alters the engine usage/battery depletion mix, and in turn influences the driving experience. There's been a number or reviewers complaining about no response from the accelerator when the battery is low. So Leapmotor has some work to do in addressing the "limp" mode. There's also inconsistency in the engine kicking in suddenly and with poor sound insulation making the C10 REEV like a regular ICE vehicle. Some interesting numbers of the C10 REEV. Kerb weight: 1,950kg. This is 30kg less than the BEB version. Century sprint (0 to 100km/hr): 8.5 seconds from a 158kW motor with 320Nm of torque. A second slower than BEV version which can do the century sprint in 7.5 seconds. Reviewers say the C10 REEV feels slow. High voltage battery details: LFP chemistry and sized at 28.4kWhr. Battery supplier is CALB. Energy consumption: 15.2 kWhr/100km (claimed). This is slightly better than BEV version of 18.8 kWhr/100km. However, real life figure will be worse as reported by some reviewers (18.3kWhr/100km). AC charge rate: 6.6kW DC charge rate: 65kW. This is lower than the BEV version which is at 84kW. Electric driving range: 145km (WLTP) Combined driving range: 975km (WLTP) Fuel tank capacity: 50L Fuel consumption: 0.9L/100km (claimed). Real life is much worse with reports of high fuel consumption based on the driving mode. As high as 9.2L/100km! Up to August 2025, the BEV version of the C10 out selling the REEV version by a factor of 3:1. Everything on the inside of the REEV version stays the same as the BEV version. The ADAS beeps and bongs from the BEV are carried over to the REEV version. Interestingly, the REEV version cost is lower than the BEV version in Oz and UK markets. steveting99 2nd Gear September 20 Author Share September 20 Leapmotor is at least addressing some of the complaints on poor user interface and ADAS implementation by rolling out an Over The Air (OTA) update in September 2025. The new software is LeapOS 3.40.32,which brings the following features: The built-in 360-degree camera can now be used as a dashcam to record the vehicle’s surroundings while on the road. This new feature comes with multiple modes for recording video loops, and can activate emergency recordings automatically. There is now a QDLink that supports smartphone screen mirroring functions. Drivers can now opt to use this feature if one doesn't want to use the proprietary apps built into the infotainment system. The built-in navigation system has been updated to offer Bahasa Melayu as a language option. Introduces a new “Hi Leapmotor” voice command feature, which allows drivers to interact with the infotainment system without meddling with the screen while driving. The update enhances steering wheel controls, giving drivers better access and customization of ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and driving modes. Distraction and fatigue monitoring have also been improved. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Centring Control (LCC) now work at speeds of up to 160 km/h with better cornering and deceleration performance. ↡ Advertisement
