DanielNg_158389 2nd Gear January 19, 2019 Share January 19, 2019 what are the 3 key attributes of lexus vs Mercedes that won u over? i love to own an E250 Mercedes but have been a Japanese car person since i started driving Just to share . I have switched from Mercedes C180 to this current ES. Was considering the E250 as well but i ended up purchasing a Lexus. Reason being: 1. Not as Luxurious as the ES. To get the similar gadgets , need to top up a lot. 2. Not as reliable and high maintenance cost 3. ES car has 5 years warranty while Mercedes offers only 3 4. Too common on the road. 5. Interior for Merc is not as spacious and comfortable. 6. For the kind of specifications, its price is reasonable compared to its German rivals. 7. Sound insulation for Merc is not as good as the ES. 8. ES has futuristic , sporty and luxurious look vs Merc E250 looking like a spruced up C . Of course, the ES is not as perfect. 1. Though the handling is somewhat similar to the Merc , but it lacked the power and oomph despite its 2500cc engine. My 1.5L X1 drives better. 2. Profile is on the low side , thus making parking susceptible to scratch especially on full load. Good thing to have the 360 Paranomic Camera. 3. ML sound system is good, but lacked bass and front oriented. 4. Resolution of the front and reverse camera is disappointing. ↡ Advertisement
steveluv Twincharged January 20, 2019 Share January 20, 2019 what are the 3 key attributes of lexus vs Mercedes that won u over? i love to own an E250 Mercedes but have been a Japanese car person since i started driving Got my first Lexus an RX300 in May 2003 for my wife (was driving the S80 at that time). After driving her car a few times I then realised why its the most popular luxury car in USA for many years. Its was its refinement and reliability won me over so I very quickly got the GS for myself. Of course over the years Mercedes and I BMW had also improved however its been so long with Lexus just couldn't see myself driving any other brands until that is 5 years ago itchy backside got the 528 right after the company got me a GS250, wasn't impress with the 528 but still keeping it. To answer your question about Mercedes actually I thought I like the latest version the lights and dashboard, last year April went to test drive kind of like it so I bought it and delivered to me in May, a E350e. As I said I really like the dashboard the whole thing is basically a LCD display Side by side with my ES300h photo taken recently Daily basis I still drive the ES like my ex-GS the E350e only weekends or rarely (hahahaha maid sometimes drive to market)

steveluv Twincharged January 20, 2019 Share January 20, 2019 I actually cancelled my order when found out there is no apply car play .You are serious? Apple CarPlay is so important more than than the car itself? I’m surprised. Anyway didn’t you check with the Lexus salesman before you book cos this information is already there when open for booking no?

Hulky 1st Gear January 21, 2019 Share January 21, 2019 I actually cancelled my order when found out there is no apply car play . I did not cancel my car when I found out the V6 version didn’t come onshore. I followed YouTube n fell in love with the ES350 model but was disappointed I didn’t get the chance here yet I didn’t give the ES259 a conplete miss cause I love the car for its shape, its handling n its presence....So to say you cancel the car because apple play is missing tell me that you aren’t serious with the car as to give you an analogy,it is like cancelling a bicycle purchase because the bell sounds different
DanielNg_158389 2nd Gear January 21, 2019 Share January 21, 2019 I just collected my ES300H...I like the pick-up with the electric motor! Congrats. Saw a hybrid version this afternoon and tried to chase it to no avail. I have to declare regrettably that the pickup for the hybrid version is very much faster than the petrol variant.

SKUIG 1st Gear January 22, 2019 Share January 22, 2019 Congrats. Saw a hybrid version this afternoon and tried to chase it to no avail. I have to declare regrettably that the pickup for the hybrid version is very much faster than the petrol variant. I actually ordered the ES250 in May last year before the model was officially launched. The deal was if I tested the cars when they arrived I had the right to cancel the order with full refund. When the cars came for testing for both ES250 and ES300H in Sept/Oct 2018, I did not like the ES250 but when I tested the ES300h...I like it. There was SIGNIFICANT amount of difference in the pick-up in the hybrid although the paper shows otherwise. There was so much difference with the electric motor that even my wife says I had to change to the hybrid or else she bet that I will definitely sell the non-hybrid in less than 6 months when taxi drivers keep over-taking me. The non-hybrid is requires a lot of effort to move maybe due to the in-line 4 as compared to previous models with V engines. The hybrid with the assisted motor makes the acceleration much better and kind of covers the roughess of the in-line 4. I had to cancel the ES250 and change to ES300H which Borneo Motors (BM) wanted to take back my early bird discount initially for changing however BM gave it back to me finally. Thus I waited almost 8 months from order to finally get the Hybrid model. In my opinion, these few points made me buy the Lexus ES300H... 1. The Hybrid motor assisting the acceleration as compared to the non-hybrid 2. The sound insulation 3. There is no more "whinning" regeneration sound in the hybrid as compared to previous versions 4. 10 year hybrid warranty
Gabdat 4th Gear January 22, 2019 Share January 22, 2019 Cheap bidded number....heehee Thanks Bro! Sonic Titanium with black interior... Thanks Bro, My SA confirmed ambient light cannot adjust and cannot change. The colour is Sonic Titanium. The only problem is the wireless phone charger inside the centre console not working but they say they will check it when i return for the 1K km servicing. if you have a thick cover for your fon it might not work,as mine.so i tested without cover/protector and it worked well. mine is ES250 sonic titanium with topaz brown interior.cheers!

DanielNg_158389 2nd Gear January 22, 2019 Share January 22, 2019 Check with you guys. Is it acceptable to have slight wind noise from the sunroof and those kind of plastic expansion/contraction sound coming from the rear doors?
steveluv Twincharged January 22, 2019 Share January 22, 2019 Check with you guys. Is it acceptable to have slight wind noise from the sunroof and those kind of plastic expansion/contraction sound coming from the rear doors? So far all my sunroof cars have this wind noise so I am sure its natural. Simply close the shade and noise is gone. I also experience a creaking noise occasionally from the backdoor behind driver seat. I thought I was the only one so now I know. Wonder where that come from. ↡ Advertisement
