Hmmm.. i really felt the steering vibration is unacceptable for a new car. After i returned back to my IS250, it feels normal. Tested bmw 318, volvo s60, no such problems. Another thing to note is boot insulation is only partial, ie the top part can see the metal. Usually luxury cars have additional black cover to avoid seeing naked steel.

Tested XE. didn't feel the vibration mentioned. Find it smooth and stable.

Also tested S60, find S60 cabin more quiet then XE. XE has more wow factor thou.

The visibly naked metal at boot roof is also there in the Merc C180, and iirc BMW 3 series too. Lol   [;)]

S60's and IS's are covered.

Stick your fingers n feel the top of the cup which holds the level to open the door fr the inside. Be careful don't be cut. I went to their atas showroom to sit inside but finger was cut by the sharp finishing.

Have also tested XE. Also not quite sure what this "vibration" is about. Didn't feel any.

One impt consideration though is that different people have different  "feel" and "sense" and expectations and focus at different aspects. Some pay more attention to handling, some acceleration etc

It also depends on what cars one is comparing with and if testing a few cars at one go, the last car we tested would have the most impression in the comparison.

Found XE noisy but S60 equally so

So just two people already have different conclusions.

Expected everyone of us to be different, that's why people land up buying different cars and all ADs are happy

Thanks for warning everyone

Naked metal in the boot, is that really a deal breaker? Unpleasant, but most people don't open the boot often, and even when you do, you don't bend down to look upwards at the naked metal portion. It's not a skirt  <_<

Hey man, same experience for on my first FOC tank. 700km with 100km to go. Filled up at SPC.

Exactly 52 as well. Am on my second tank now. Hope FC will improve.

But when i am alone, i normally drive in dynamic + S mode.. So....

Anyway, FYI, i am going back to wearnes tomorrow. There has been a recall (Diesel XE), not sure if you are aware.

Need to add a clip to the fuel hose pump. Do call your SE to check.

For those who are considering, its a great drivers car.

You can take corners at high speed without much body roll.

Steering feel is great. Plus its RWD.. Can feel the difference comparing to a FWD, especially getting out of corners.

Accelerates well, diesel engine runs out of breath quickly vs petrol but because it has eight gears, it keeps in the power band quite well.

This is especially so in dynamic + S mode. The gear and rev is kept at the level where the power will be delivered instantly once you touch the accelerator pedal. i dont even bother using the pedal shifters in Dynamic + S mode. The automatic gear is spot on. It holds the rev high for acceleration and when u take your foot off the pedal, it doeant drop gear that quickly, it holds quite abit.

D mode is just sluggish but the car cruise with very little need to step on the pedal. It just glides and glides.. Most of the time in kpe, im travelling at 80 and the rpm is just slightly above 1000 level.

One thing that i really like is when you are in D mode, the pedal shifters are already activated.

You do not need to take your hands off the steering, just need to drop gear and go.

Unlike some other cars, you will need either adjust the shifter or press some button to activate.

And when your are done overtaking, just hold the pedal for 2 sec and it goes back to automatic, again no need to take your hands off the steering wheel.

Excellent feature.

One problem for me is i have two young kids and i am struggling to fit my wife, one baby chair and one booster sit in the back. And when i received the LTA cert for the car, it says seating capacity is 4.

So, for those considering do make provisions for baby chairs didnt realise is that small at the back.

Not sure why wearnes dont bring in the high power petrol version, but at least the diesel version is the more powerful version. And best of all, for a diesel XE, you wont hesitate to put your foot down, it doesnt hurt the wallet much...

Just sharing... Having alot of fun..

Cheers

Yup,

Knew there was a recall and checks that mine does not have the clip. Was jst waiting for Wearnes to contact me. Did your SE acknowledge the recall?

For those unaware of the recall:

http://ec.europa.eu/...electedTabIdx=1

To save you scrolling through the lasers and stick-on nails the details are as follows:

Brand: Jaguar

Name: XE and XF

Type/number of model: Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF (2016 and certain 2017 Model Year)

Batch number/Barcode: Selected vehicles with diesel engine within VIN range: Jaguar XE - SAJAB4C1XGA900002 to SAJAB4CN2HA942989 / Jaguar XF - SAJBB4CN4GCY00005 to SAJBB4AN4GCY20385.

Details: The under-bonnet low pressure fuel feed hose may detach from the fuel filter causing the engine to cut out and reduce brake power. Engine cut-out with minimal warning could potentially cause a vehicle crash.

No "running in" philosopy for you? Well..I am trying hard to control and "run in" altho sometimes foot does slip abit and push the pedal slightly harder.

So am just fully on normal mode now...well at least for another 2000 km.....

Does dynamic + S mode makes alot difference compared to just dynamic or S mode?

Usually when kids are young, you need to have at least an adult in the rear with them to entertain and soothe them on road trips. there lies in your problem because your wife will be squashed in the middle on those trips.

Varying school of thoughts... Some say driving conservatively does nothing to run in..

I really dont know man... But what i can say for sure is never rev your engine hard until the engine has reached operating temperature.

So for me, i drive in moderation, but i never take it to the redline. No point for a diesel engine anyway, better off to upshift earlier and let it drop back into the power band.

Dynamic + D or normal + S mode is just confusing. The car behaves very oddly.. U should really try out. I cant think of any situation where such combinations made sense.

On the day of collection, after i put my kids to sleep, i went on a 45 mins drive to test out all the modes.

Only Dynamic + S made sense, other permutations is just weird to me. Otherwise just drive in normal + D mode.

Wow, u really can control. Good for u.. Less than two weeks my car has gone more than 1000km.

Just to share further for those considering:

Features that i like:

1) power boot... I just like to close the boot from inside the car.

2) music goes on playing after u shut down engine. Only goes off when u open the car doors.

3) when u open the door, steering wheel moves up to allow easier exit. I drive with the steering wheel at its lowest position and most extended, so... Really helpful.

4) wiper blades for drivers side is very long, cover the full height of wind screen... Awesome

5) childlock mode, disables power windows as well.

6) automatic wiper speed , but behaves quite erratically.

Having said that, i think SG diesel XE is really quite a low spec model. Looking at online reviews, theres alot more features that the Prestige model should have. But dont bother me too much as i dont think ill use them anyway...

Overall the drive and the looks of the car attracts me most.

And to know that the OMV is the same as a 520 but u are paying alot lesser for the Jag seals the deal for me.

Cheers..

Dynamic mode provides more responsive acceleration. It will allow the throttle to rev a little higher before shifting. The sports mode won't shift at all until you are close to redline. If you go to manual shifting, in sports mode, it will not go back to D. where as in dynamic if you leave the car in the highest gear for an extended amount of time, it will go back to automatic shifting just like in normal mode.

Dynamic mode also somewhat alters the shift points and alters throttle response, presumably the braking response is supposed to be a bit faster, and if you have an adjustable suspension, will alter that as well.

If you try both Dynamic and S together, the feeling I have is "wow"!  when you push your car, it will definitely be very different from activating only one of them.

yeap, love the little details they built into the XE.

Also, theres the passenger mirror dipping down when in reverse gear.

btw how do u guys hit 1000km on one tank. I can get maybe 850km, but no more. I am on my 3rd tank already.
