LOL at Checo and RB expecting Max to give the position back to Checo during the final lap

taking into consideration Max was about 4sec ahead, but Checo has helped Max multiple times last year and this year, both of the years Max won the WDC.

It would have been the most brazen team order in history. Max would have to slow down drastically with so little of the race left to go.

interesting to see the comments/reaction in social media. Many Dutch/Max fans expressing their disappointment with Max on his refusal to help Checo. i hope his fan base collapses.

basically it's all in Max's (enormous) head and ego

petty act of "revenge" - nothing gained, lost respect from the F1 fraternity and his own fans.

Yeah, my personal opinion is Max's just a little over the edge this time.

Hopefully Russell can rise up to the challenge next season, it'll be amazing to see him beat Max to the championship.

especially given how much checo helped him last year to win the WDC (notwithstanding the controversial circumstances) by holding up lewis (in my mind close to the point of dangerous driving) in the final race ..

if F1 fans (and sponsors) tire of Toxic Max, will Christian Horner still treat him like a golden boy?

what if they boycott him just like RB boycotted Sky sports? 🤣

I am not the kind that accepts what i see in the internet as being the truth. This is just one site's method to milk the situation for clicks.

I agree Max is ruthless but Checo has been quite poor most of the season. If not for Ferrari having such bad strategy/luck, he wouldn't even be in the running for 2nd place. He put himself in a position that he depended on others. LH keep blaming Masi for Abu Dhabi 2021 but if he had not screwed up in Azerbajian, what happened in Abu Dhabi would not have mattered.

agreed, the revenge story could be inaccurate but it does not negate Max's actions (or rather, inaction) in Brazil due to his ego.

i find it hard to believe that checo had deliberately crashed in monaco and admitted to the same, as RB would likely have fired him on the spot. Instead they extended his contract. Possibly Max thought he did it deliberately or blamed him for screwing up and thus wanted to punish him for it? But would it even matter now he has the WDC?

to me, the reason is irrelevant. I can't imagine any possible scenario where checo did something that justified such a response and yet kept his seat there. Do bear in mind Marko isn't much of a checo supporter so his position is always on tetherhooks.

yes checo has not had a great season but it's no reason to deny him a P2. I can't think of any driver that has had the perfect season this year. Even Max/RB struggled in the first few races.

As i was watching the race unfold, the broadcaster did not play any pit to checo instructing him to let max pass. I actually thought Max passed cos checo knew there was no point fighting him - a few other drivers had already passed him. Max would probably be able to overtake him anyway. So later on when race eng asked Max to give back the place i felt a bit odd cos i did not know that there was any prior agreement to do so and it also came so late that it would be awkward for max to slow down so much just to let checo pass.

Anyway Max is not angel. And he is not paid to be one. Checo doesn't have the same bargaining power as Max.

Max drives for Red Bull Racing, not Max Racing.

the fact that Horner apologized to Checo (no matter how insincere i thought it was) over the radio speaks volumes.
