If your in law is there why didn't arrange for repairs there (and fly back if urgent)?

Happened to me in Cameron Highlands too.

The mechanic from Ipoh said my brake line was cut and cut very cleanly with a knife.

I suspect someone knowing only I was driving back to Sg and didn't want me to reach!

I can tell you many younger driver do not know how to use engine brake. To them is only accelerator pedal and brake pedal.

Unlike us older driver that previously driving manual car, we already learn to use a lot of engine braking even before stopping at traffic light. That is how we learn our driving.

[laugh]

Even now when i am already driving auto-gear car, I still switch over to the "M" mode, and "-/+" to downshift, use engine braking when going down steep winding ramps at carpark. Old habit. I don't know if nowadays auto-gear cars still feature this mode prominently; some of them have only "D", "1", "2".

But some people tell me don't play this "M and -/+" gears too often, will spoil the gearbox, as it is not the same as when we drive manual car, can release accelerator to clutch down, match revs, etc.

The Prius is the perfect car to come down Cameron Highlands put the car in regen braking and every mile coming down is a free mile to get back to SG!

An EV is very very heavy. The batteries are really heavy and the brakes have to work overtime to stop the car.

Most PHV drivers on the highway will always accelerate brake, accelerate brake, accelerate brake and the braking system would have been in half life or less before reaching Cameron Highlands.

Braking all the way down Cameron Highlands would have worn it out totally.

Just needed to change the worn out parts and can drive back to SG.

You used the Brakes all the way downhill.?Should be Brakes Overheated,You Should use Engine Braking...can also charge the Battery.

I use engine brake B mode. Symptom should be booster pump spoil. Still got brake but fully hydraulic mode totally no assist.

People say lots of things and I don't think this is true.

The car designers who have studied engineering and build cars for a living

have put this feature in you car.

I don't think they would put in a feature that will spoil your car if you use it!

:D

Was the "some people" car engineers who are paid a lot of money to design cars?

In SG and MY even car mechanics with no engineering studies also BS customers that don't know better!

In SG everybody knows everything and is an expert on everything!

I am aways happy because every time someone says something BS it just cracks me up!

People here so bad say TS never use B mode.

A PHV rental car who knows how the previous drivers drive?

Maybe they drive until chui and poor TS drive when he take over all the things inside almost spoil already.

Long trip to Cameron Highlands and when braking coming down the braking system gave up.

TS please don't only change the brake booster.

Please check the brake pads also.

If the pads are worn out then the booster have to work harder.

You may need to change both.

I guess they are referring to people who play these "-/+" gears adjustment while keeping their feet on the accel pedal.

On manual cars, you do this (without pressing clutch), there'll be horrible sound of gears clashing. Probably this principle, which applies to manual cars, got carried over to early auto-gear cars....

But nowadays auto cars are supposed to be intelligent enough to do the shifting up or down smoothly even with your foot pressing down on the accel throughout the process.

Most likely brake master pump leak.

If it's rental, the rental company should fix it. But I don't think they will compensate for the towing charge.

This is exactly right.

Whether you change the gear or the car changes the gear

it will automatically clutch in for your.

So I am really not sure why the need to take your foot off the accelerator when changing gear by you or the car.

When people say something BS

always say the magic words - why is that?

The next purge of diarrhea coming out

will always be very funny!

Never miss the opportunity to practice

pretending not crack up and learn self control

and politeness nodding approvingly when

you know its . . .

Never trust your life to a PHV rental car.

The way the previous drivers drive these cars.

You see how the PHVs and BlufilmsSG and GetUB4IGo drive

I also scared to drive these cars!

Some don't even drive straight, don't know how many times the front wheels hit the kerb!

Some the brakes almost dead and then you take a long trip and come down mountains.

I think next trip to Cameron Highlands I will rent a rental car for my MIL.

Pay her back for cutting my brake lines last time!
